City :p 0 Posted December 30, 2014 So Ipswich played on Friday 26th December, the same as us - both with winning comfortably. We then had a game 48 hours later on Sunday 28th December, of which our main starting 11 didn''t perform that greatly in, and we ended up losing. Although not entirely down to the short recovery time. Why is it that Ipswich, who have a small squad, get the extra days recovery for their first team players to rest and get ready for their next championship game, which wasn''t until Tuesday 30th December. How is this fair and allowed? Clutching at straws, I know, but they rely heavily on their main 11 it seems, and they had the recovery time to prepare for their next game... who knows whether they would have won if they had to play the same day as us, 48 hours later (+ the rest as they had the early kick off time too, on Boxing Day)
im spartacus canary 0 Posted December 30, 2014 they played a team who had the same amount of rest time as did we, they beat a rubbish team 3-0 who we lost at home to
Jacko 0 Posted December 30, 2014 Charlton had exactly the same amount of recovery time as Ipswich. They haven''t gained an unfair advantage at all. The fundamental difference is that Ipswich put a crap Charlton side to the sword by being clinical, something that we were incapable of doing despite having hatfuls of chances to do so. Given that we also invested millions on having this ''deep'' squad and yet neglected to us it over the Christmas period that is surely our problem? You can''t blame that on any other external factor. Mellow Yellow 0 Posted January 2, 2015 All teams had a window when the games had to be played and Ipswich and Charlton agreed to change the dates to allow extra recovery time. We could have done the same, not sure if we tried or not.
fatty man 0 Posted January 2, 2015 As already mentioned , Ipswich fixture was originally scheduled for the same day as the rest of the division.Mick requested it was changed as there was plenty of room to move it within the permitted window and Charlton agreed.Norwich could have done the same had DJ Neil not thought they would steam roller Reading

Just as your game 2 days later was. Having said that binboy the rest of your post is poppycock. Your fixture was a home fixture which made a lot of difference to getting it moved. Had Neil requested a change it almost certainly would have been refused. For Charlton to accept your offer was a no brainer. Far better to travel and play on 30th than 28th. Especially with an FA Cup weekend to follow.
