Cup loss to lower division teams nothing new

Recommended Posts

Happens on a regular basis to us.

Even during some of our better times with our most highly rated managers.

Most heartbreaking for me has to be the Semi against Sunderland

According to Shaun on Canary Call since 1995 we have lost to lower league opposition no less than 16 times in all cup competitions and only won 3 against higher placed sides.

Our Captain said Preston wanted it more than us. A shocking confession, anyone who isnt totally committed should find another club.

Please let us know before hand if you''re not that bothered lads. Perhaps the team could carry a white flag for games they are not that bothered about, or the manager thinks is a nothing game.

Not wanting it, not acceptable.

That is rather poor - one thing that players should always be is fully prepared and up for it, anything less is unacceptable. Most of us don''t mind losing if we can see that they are busting a gut for us as supporters and, ultimately, the people paying their inflated wages.

As to the result yesterday, as opposed to the performance, I don''t think any of us can have been that surprised - our record in all knock-out matches over the last 20-25 years is pretty dire (one more reason why relying on the play-offs won''t fill us with glee). And, actually, when combined with Brentford''s defeat it does mean we will be playing a league game when the next round is played, so no worries about any fixture congestion/moves.

No, not 3. Zero. Diddly squat. Goose egg. None at all.

Fully agree, the faithful that went up to Preston would have welcomed the heads up before buying their tickets.
