Wazzy's Ref Watch

Recommended Posts

Mark Clattenburg

Real Jekyll and Hyde from Clattenburg.

Technically some good refereeing from him at times but then he loses all credit for that by some rubbish decision making (a bit like our defence). Leeds should have had 3 players booked by halftime. The keeper for time wasting - blatantly obvious, and unbelievably he was warned but still had no card. Number 4 Austin the ball had clearly crossed the touchline for a throw in when he hoofed it down the pitch, it wasn''t even close. He didn''t even get spoken to.

Number 5 Bellusci multiple offences he could have been booked for, even a blatant dive when not touched didn''t wake the Ref up.

A general criticism of nearly all Refs is that Throw ins seem to be taken from wherever players feel like it and free kicks too.

Please will you Refs stop touching the players and pulling them to their feet etc. it gives us the feeling you are not being totally impartial

Clattenburg - a real mixed bag. Although the game wasn''t totally out of his control, he didn''t seem to have a very firm grip on it 4

Reported on 5 Live that Clattenburg has been taking statements from a Leeds player and Jerome, apparently Jerome has alleged that he was racially abused by the Leeds player, hence the hold up during the first half. I did wonder what was going on, particularly considering the long talking to that Clattenburg gave to some of the Leeds players.

Couldn''t have been very long as he only added 3 minutes seemed a hell of a lot longer.

The kicking the ball away incident by Austin was blatant and was undoubtedly a yellow card. These sorts of decisions can have a big impact on the game and the way a defender plays after receiving a yellow can often make him less effective. I think Clattenburgh was far too lenient with his decisions today which worked to our disadvantage.

It''s a foul for obstruction and a free kick. Or in Twattenburg''s book play on.

The only way that he was going to give us a penalty for the handball was if he could take it himself. He seems to genuinely believe that people have only come to watch him referee.
