PurpleCanary 5,531 Posted October 13, 2014 City1st has the player. As to the other Yorkshire ground, we only played once at the one I am thinking of.
Syteanric 1 Posted October 13, 2014 is the ground "no longer used for league football" because it has been demolished or because the club are no longer in the football league?Halifax town?
Year of the tiger 51 Posted October 13, 2014 If its the Yorkshire one I''m thinking of we won promotion there

PurpleCanary 5,531 Posted October 13, 2014
If its the Yorkshire one I''m thinking of we won promotion there
That is the one. We did. I think the weirdest ground I have seen us play at. And if you were a minute late in at the start of both halves you missed the only goals.
Bill 1,788 Posted October 13, 2014 the ground is **s** ****i**and you could have had Ayresome Park as it was in North Yorkshire at one point
Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 998 Posted October 13, 2014 I was at the game the day we won promotion. I went to buy a burger from the van at the top of the terrace and gave it back to burger flipper when he told me the price!!. The next home game at this ground was against Leeds, as usual their fans kicked off and I saw the said burger van careering down the terracing on national television!!..... Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 998 Posted October 13, 2014 Just checked my previous post and found my poor befuddled brain got it wrong, we won promotion in April 86 and the Leeds fans rioted in September (the following season), thankfully the occupants of the van jumped clear before it careered down the terracing (in flames)....... Bill 1,788 Posted October 13, 2014 That''s Maine Road. Been there a few times and i think saw us lose every game!!I think i can see that old woman who used to ring that ******* bell all game.spot on overlapping purple''s question, here''s another
Mr Angry 1,512 Posted October 13, 2014 Strange that the brewery advertised on that Maine Road stand was owned by the man who saved Man Utd from bankruptcy in 1902 when they were still called Newton Heath.

Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 998 Posted October 13, 2014 I am guessing the answer to the "Yorkshire" ground is Odsal Stadium, the Rugby League ground Braford City used as a home ground following the fire at Valley Parade, if not my "burger van" story is even more pointless!!.......
