Midfield mediocrity

Recommended Posts

Their names may look good written down on a piece of paper, but no different to most previous seasons ( with the exception of Pilkington and Snodgrass), we find ourselves with a powder-puff midfield with plenty of bluster and no end product.

Our two ''defensive'' midfielders have managed to out score our so-called ''attacking'' midfielders, but COLLECTIVELY, Howson, Hoolahan, Redmond, Tettey and Johnson can only match the output of the likes of Pugh (Bournmouth), Ward (Derby) and Marshall (Blackburn), and fall well short of Sako (Wolves) and Antonio ( NForest).

Redmond is the only midfielder we have who comes near to having ''explosive'' qualities, but at what age do you give up on ''full of promise'' and at what age does a player become accountable for having no end product when it comes to goal scoring?

The club could also consider that, after another abject result, (if not performance), neither Howson or Johnson are presented for media interviews. Believe it or not, they''re better at scoring goals than standing behind a microphone.

Well Pilkington had a great delivery on both feet and just look at his injury record at Cardiff hardly missed a game. A big loss and a winger along with Snodgrass who havent been replaced.
