The problem with NCFC has for the past 50 years apart from isolated periods that we are not an  ambitious club. The last few chairman have always stated they are but fail to act. Gunn and Adams are prime examples. Cheap options and hope to keep the mug season ticket holders happy.
Joined on 21/08/2009

I believe we should give NA time. Changing managers every time we have a run of poor results is damaging. I do believe we should be supporting him and then we can all enjoy the success when it comes and laugh at the Binners when they inevitably slide to mid-table.

Hi

I have always posted on the Norwich City Mad site but for some reason posters have left. Probably fed up with NCFC and all the excuses that come from a BOD who do everything on the cheap.

If we lose to Brighton I imagine you will be cancelling all of your other non-forum activities.

If we lose to Brighton then McNasty will have to take drastic action. This probably means that he''ll order some more clappers to help encourage a Samba atmosphere at Carrow Road.

The "opinion" article on the front page and some of the comments about Adams demanour after the match indicate that of a beaten man.

the board have acted, either with Adams approval or not, regarding Robson and are now actively seeking a coach... For me this is a contigency, they have to look to replace and act fast. Defeat to Brighton and I honestly think Adams will resign, he looks like he doesnt want it anymore.. a new coach and/or manager will be in place the monday after the game, result depending.

its now our biggest game of the season..
I will feel slightly annoyed, complain to anyone who will listen about where we got it wrong tactically even though I don''t know what I''m talking about and then I get home and punch my cat (it''s ok, I don''t actually have a cat).Seriously though I personally don''t think it''s wise to just sack Adams based on a specific result before we know who''ll be coming in. As the club is currently performing under expectations I would expect McNally to already be having a quiet word in the ear of a few potential replacements for the manager''s role. When and only when they are confident they have a man who can do the job of returning us to the top flight with the budget and time required should we cause the disruption of replacing the manager. The club has to act preemptively. We have seen too many times with the appointments of Gunn and Adams for recent examples that acting re-actively without considering consequences can leave you in a worse mess than before you started. Sacking Adams following a defeat to Brighton would appease the fans, but if we are then left adrift with no manager, make another rash. ill-considered appointment and continue struggling the atmosphere is likely to be even more poisonous.

The board need to be strong, thick skinned and even beligerent imo.  Sticking with a manager through thick and thin and beyond is hard.   So is sacking a manager after just a few games. Neither way is guaranteed improvement, but it is better to sack a manager early or do what Newcastle do atm - stick with the manager through thick and thin rather than dither or hang on only to sack the manager in panic.

The writing is on the wall with Adams - the team is soft and has been all season in giving away easy goals to the opposition.   That has not been solved and there is no evidence that the team or the manager knows what to do to sort it out.  If they are going to stick with him they have to do it and tell us that.  If they are going to sack him, they should do it now.  It was the same with Hughton.  They probably should have sacked him in November, no-one would have complained, not even me at that time after the Manchester games.  But they didn''t.  Sacking him when they did looked like a panicky response to the fans - but that is not being strong - I would have preferred them to stick with Hughton to the end of the season, let him finish the job, for better or worse.   The alternative wasn''t better.

Ricardo says that the manager goes when the crowd turns - well the crowd turned at Newcastle and their owner/board have resisted - and they are doing well again.  Whatever we knew about Hughton and his faults, the team''s faults etc etc, he was sacked at the wrong time - there was plenty of reason to sack him in November or January - or at the end of the season.   The constant bellyaching from the fans did not help - every week it was Hughton out, Hughton out.......but if the board had stood up and said in November or January "he is staying to the end of the season " then that could have prevented some of that.   The McNally interview didn''t help imo - "we''ve told the manager in no uncertain terms what is required" etc etc  - that is not helping him at all.  It would have been better to say - "the manager is in charge and we will let him do his job".     Saying what he did was trying to make the board look good, instead of supporting his manager.  Then to sack with only five games to go was ludicrous imo.

With Adams they are going to have the same problem.  I don''t envy them - its hard to keep everyone happy at a football club.  The next game is vital - as was the West Ham game last season.  Lose it and they have to make a decision imo.  But if they lose and choose to keep him, that has to be the decision for the whole season this time, or we risk a deja vu with last season, hanging on, hanging on, hanging on.....then a rash decision to try and enable us to get into the playoffs or whatever.   Trust the manager - sack him if they don''t - or be strong and see the season out with him.    Middle ground is not good enough.  Surely lessons have been learned?
Surely lessons have been learned?
Well the fans seem to have learned some lessons from last season (assuming this board is representative of opinion generally).  If there had been this strong a mood against CH at this stage of last season, I think we would have had a new manager in before January.
