You can count Wes in the mix if you like.  I just commented on another thread that the three midfielder today were the same three we struggled with for the last two and a half seasons.  You could add Wes to that and it would the same four midfielder''s we''ve struggled with for the last two and a half seasons.    Tettey Howson Hoolahan and Johnson. Not a prolific midfield.  And no sign of upgrades - Voo is injured.....McGrandles?    O''Neill looked good last time I saw him......oh.....not in the team today....another one being punished for his comments?
Well our form dramatically dropped after his injury. This has happened on many occasions. But I guess it''s just coincidence.
The trouble is he blows hot and cold.  At Blackpool we were all over the place in the first half, no balance in the team, no creativity, nothing to show for quite a lot of possession.   He was substituted and the change was dramatic.

We massively miss him. Not just his own abilities but in his preferred position gives the team a structure....a purpose even.

Everything feels just that bit more disjointed without him

Trouble with him is in most of the games this season where we have come back well in the 2nd half its been after wes has been taken off for murphy

Who now seems to have fallen out of favour for some reason.

I''ve no doubt at all the clueless one will play him as soon as he''s fit again

People forget it''s not just his possession, runs and passing that contribute to the game. in the championship he''s a feared man and when he''s played this season he''s given little time to move.

Yet as well as still getting the ball, doing his pirouettes (and losing the ball occasionally), moving play forwards and creating, he drags more players away from others creating more space.

He may not have the best statistics but he contributes more than people realise - and we are missing him.

Our main weakness has been the slow build ups and lack of moving the ball quickly as we approach the opponents goal. Plus of course a loss of confidence in front of goal which has not been helped by the quality of the final ball in to the box. I am afraid Wes would make no difference in these areas which need rapid and quick improvement.

I''m not actually sure that Hoolahan is what we''re missing at the moment?...Howson can play in the attacking midfield role and score more goals than Wes will.

What we are missing at the moment is a winger to play on the opposite flank to Redmond.....we''ve tried Lafferty,Hoolahan,Grabban even Johnson on the left this season with no real success or balance.....who can really say who was there today?...it was a hybrid somewhere between 442 with Johnson drifting left and 433 with Grabban out there , neither really ideal.

Address this problem and we might get somewhere.....(A.Pilkington??)

We miss him, but this argument is one step back from idea that we just need a decent striker, when the problems are more fundamental than that. We''re weak in central midfield and have nobody that can serve as a defensive playmaker. If we have to rely on Johnson and Tettey then we falter. We seem to want to be tough at the back, very attacking up front but are left with little in the middle, especially when someone like Vadis gets injured.

few games befor he was injured we only scored goals once he was subbed off, don''t think we miss him we lack width leaving our defence exposed down the wings yet we loan out our wingers!

Johnny Howson is by far a better creator than wes, sort the rest of the midfeild out and use proper wide men and we would have less of a problem.

Then stop playing useless CB''s (Hooveild) and we might not concede as many!

God only knows what we will do when he is eventually sold / retires.Love how some fans feel that "Wessi" is the only thing that makes us win. For every game he does something great there are two where he spins round on the spot 3 times or passes the ball straight to the opposition.
Minus a spin or two you could say the same about most of our outfield players. We always seem to end up passing backwards or sideways, else give the ball away because our movement and interplay are so poor.
