Fed up with mediocrity

Recommended Posts

How much longer have norwich City fans got to put up with this mediocrity ,for season after season as long as I can remember( back to early 70,s) we have been promised exciting attacking football with maybe a chance of promotion or even a cup run only to be left feeling the same after every season ,totally fed up and deflated by little old norwich.Every time that we have a bad run of form that the majority of fans can see why oh why do the board not act until it is too late,we are a laughing stock yet again, last season it was so obvious that we were going to get relegated from early on and yet again history repeats itself and the board wake up too late. After going through this year after year I am sick of the little old norwich tag and just hope the board can grow some -alls and act before it is to late, for gods sake show some ambition and professionalism and give our great fans something to celebrate. The board could do a lot worse than read this forum rather than have their heads stuck up you nowhere.

Think you missed the point, how many good seasons can you remember since the early 1970,s probably count them on one hand usually down to poor decisions in the boardroom.

From 1985 through to 1993 we were pretty good, we had the second best attack and best defence in 2004 when winning the league by 8 points and the thee seasons under Lambert were pretty good. 4 league titles, 3 Wembley appearances, a League Cup win, a play-off final appearance, our highest ever league finish, followed by a famous UEFA cup run. Other than all of that the football we''ve had to put up with since 1970 has been awful.Nurse!!! He''s out of bed again!!!

Apart from 2003-04 and 2009-12 (starting from a very low base) we''ve never had a sustained period of success like we had from the mid-80''s to early 90''s. The truth is we''ve declined and fallen behind other teams, the board lurching from one crisis to another because they know little about football.

Or to put it another way, four (or five) of the last six seasons have been successful.

2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12

and 2012-13 (our highest PL finish?)

Which leaves 2013-14''s failure, and the current season which isn''t finished yet.

Perhaps this board are getting better at the whole "running a football club" thing?

Well organised yes, but not anything near to what we took for granted under Stringer or Walker over a sustained period. The ''football'' in 2012-13 was rancid, an insult, a case of being top of the bottom of a very bad heap and nothing to be proud of.
2012-13 (our highest PL finish?)
Erm, I expect you''re quite young, but our highest finish was 3rd in 1993. Pre-premiership we finished 5th in 1987 (under Brown), 4th in 1989 and 10th in 1990. Post premiership we were 3rd in 1993 and 12th in 1994. Most of that era involved hardly spending a dime as our backroom and youth system was exceptional. These days we flush 20 times the money down the toilet.
