Derby Canary 3 Posted August 30, 2014 Just watching Jason Shackell having a great game for Burnley marking RVP/Rooney etc out of the game. How we could do with him now. Which of our idiot managers sold him? Was it the same one who gave Chris Martin away?
Herman 7,876 Posted August 30, 2014 Yes, Chris Hughton was responsible for selling all our players years before he was even our manager.[:|]
lake district canary 3,881 Posted August 30, 2014 Never understood why we sold him. Was made captain and looked to have sorted out all his injury/illness problems. Scandalous that he was moved on at that stage.
Herman 7,876 Posted August 30, 2014 Was it something to do with the Rodent? Says it all if it was.

It's Character Forming 1,038 Posted August 30, 2014 Reminds me of Ryan Bennett (well RB reminds me of Shack when he played for us).Always felt it was stupid to let him go.
Deptford Canary 0 Posted August 30, 2014 That 1 million pound move to McCarthy,s Wolves only then to - as good as - never play was one of the strangest transfers ever!

About as clear as the motive for selling Shackell!
Yelloow Since 72 51 Posted August 30, 2014 Always liked Shackell. Good that he gets a crack at the PL.

? 9 Posted August 30, 2014 I was always under the impression that Shackell was sold to finance the Sibierski loan. That had to go down as one of the worst transfer deadline days.Great bit of business...Good luck to Shacks though, always rated him at City. His debut, away at Derby if i remember correctly, was brilliant. Shame it went a bit downhill for him when we made him captain.
Katie Borkins 1 Posted August 30, 2014 Shackell had a head like a thrupenny bit, you were never sure which direction his headed "clearances" would go in. Was a good decision to sell him at the time and he wasn''t missed, so if he''s improved in the years he''s been gone then that''s great but let''s not pretend we sold Bobby f*cking Moore, eh? Year of the tiger 39 Posted August 30, 2014 Think he had to be sold after the Turners pulled out.
kingsway 74 Posted August 31, 2014 Urban myth at the time was he was sold to subsidise the loan move for Sibierski!Yeah a good solid defender who we could definitely do with now and also of the left footed CB rareity!
djc 0 Posted August 31, 2014 A player much like Chris Martin, where both needed to move on to get games in order to become the players they now are.
