Does Giant Killing Exist Anymore

Recommended Posts

It used to be big news that a team from the lower leagues knocked a higher placed team out of a cup competition. Now its a shrug of the shoulders and almost half expected. I wonder how many teams would opt out of taking part in cups if there was a choice.

If they said "you can opt out of the league cup and swap it for 3 league points" i think so many teams would. I work with Arsenal, Man U, I**wich fans and no-one seems bothered there team has gone out, neither was i. If i supported a team like Everton, Newcastle, Aston Villa i would want us going all out to win it because lets face it winning the prem, fa cup, top 4 is a huge ask. Seems almost accepted that most Premiership & Championship teams make whole sale changes and if there team goes out at least some fringe players get a run out or they got to see a couple of young players feature.

Possibly not in the league cup. but for certain in the FA Cup... more teams enter and the majority are either semi pro or amateur... we''ve been on the end of one in recent seasons!!!

A Giant Killing is when the local Postman, Bus Driver or window cleaner rises at the far post to make Arsenal/Man Utd/Chelsea look stupid.... He''ll remember it always...

I''m sure more people know Ronny Radford and Trevor Raffey''s goals in the 70''s than remember last seasons final...
