This is what you get when you sell your best players and don''t spend any money on getting better replacements. Strong squad my @rse!

Not one  shot on target in the whole match.
Incorrect. Grabban had a shot on target just before Olsson got sent off. Aimed for the far post on the angle, palmed out for a corner by the goalkeeper.

Thing is we haven''t sold our ''best'' players. Most of them are still here and that''s the problem they weren''t good enough last year and they won''t be this ....

Two mistakes killed us in this match.
The first mistake is the managers. Adams should''ve changed for the diamond well before Olsson got sent off. I was calling for the change to a 4-2-3-1 around the 15 minute mark. Although he may have been justified in keeping the diamond had Olsson not been sent off, as we had the quite good period early in the 2nd half,  I still feel he could''ve reacted faster and made the change as it became abundantly clear that the diamond was just not working in either an attacking or defensive sense. A good 5 minute spell does not make the 50 minutes where the system didn''t work justified.
The 2nd mistake is Olssons. Yes, he lacked protection throughout the game, but to be so idiotic in that situation is unforgivable. Better to let them have the chance and possibly score than to put your hands on the attacker and get sent off. This is something the manager can''t predict though and all Adams can do at this point is react well. The fact that we conceded so soon after only made the situation worse.
Adams, to be fair, made the right changes. Bringing on Garrido was so common sense that any football fan worth his salt could''ve done it but the introduction of both Tettey and, in particular, Lafferty were sensible (and, in Lafferty''s case, brave) decisions. Grabban and Lafferty showed instances of good link-up play which could bode well for the future.
All-in-all, it was as I expected. An inexperianced manager, in his first full-time managerial game, made mistakes that came back to bite him. There is no shame in this but Adams needs to learn quickly in order to have any success in his first job.
Against Watford, he has to go 4-2-3-1. Watford''s wing backs leave alot of space to attack and we need to exploit that space fully. If we starta daimond against Watford, then we will lose.

A nightmare come true. We have a duffer on our hands.

That ridiculous performance was worse than anything Hughton conjured up.

This was as bad as anything in the Peter Grant days, and he did not have the quality of players to pick from.

NOT ONE MEANINGFUL ATTEMPT ON GOAL. Awful!

We have a clueless duffer at a time when virtually anybody else in charge should be capable of success this season.

A nightmare come true. Wolves were there for the taking. We were pathetic.
Hopefully we will get a honest post match assessment from Adams rather than ''we were just getting into our stride when the sending off happened which obviously changed the game'' ..... Wonder which one we will get ??
No surprises...... I especially like the quotes '' there were lots of positives'' , '' we had good shape'' hmmmm the only shape we had was like bowl of spaghetti spilt on the floor ...

I know you have to be positive in sport but why are football people so insanely blinkered ?

Should never have started with diamond away to wolves - and should have changed it once that was obvious... Which it was... Hooligan, Surman lightweight... Redmond poor... Only Ruddy looked the part really... Should have started with Tettey and Lafferty... Let''s hope Neil''s a fast learner.......

Totally agree with this, main positive from the match for me was the Lafferty introduction which as you say was a make-or-break type sub that didnt just swap like for like personnel. It may just have won us a point, or it could have meant we ended up losing 2-0 instead, but CH would never have made that type of change. Credit to NA for that and hopefully it shows he''ll have the guts to try and change things within a game in the way CH never did. But your right, he should have spotted the diamond wasnt working before we lost Olsson. Wolves were getting so much space in the centre circle, particularly their number 11 McDonald who was spraying passes to the wide players all game with hardly any pressure on the ball. We made him look like Andre Prlo [well at least he reminded me of David Fox!] and highlighted a chronic lacking in our own midfield. Someone who can get their head up and pick a pass out, 30-40yds diagonal to the winger.

As for Olsson, I dont ever remember seeing him get done for pace by anyone like that before, even in the prem. The lad took a touch and just went past him like he wasnt there. Presume in that situation the players are coached to take the player out just before they get in the box, which is exactly what Olsson did, knowing he was never going to catch him. You''ll probably get a red but at least its still 0-0.
