nutty nigel 7,351 Posted August 6, 2014 So here we are back for the 8th season of Rays Funds. I’mproud that we’ve managed to stand the test of time. Ray would be proud of usall too. I was amending Ray’s signature earlier to add in the end of seasonpledges and we have now raised a total of £2,694. £650 of that came from lastseason alone and is the total we have raised for the CSF. I will be presentingthat this month. Ricky Martin has invited us to Colney for that presentationbut of course we have to tie in with representatives from the CSF too. I willlet you all know the details as soon as I have them. I have been overwhelmed by the support I’ve had to keep these threadsgoing. Our anonymous benefactor has generously stepped forward again to sponsorthe Norwich match bet. And you PUPs have been superstars sending me donationsincluding many from PUPs new to the thread. I’d like to thank you all and I’mproud to look after these threads for you for another season. Welcome all PUPs old and new to week one of our new Rays Funds season. Toget us underway I’m pleased to say we have our current champion, the winner oflast season’s PUPs League, Trent Canary in charge and making the finalselections. Trent’s been with us from the very start and has always been upwith the front runners. I know some of you look for Trent’s selection and thenfind five more to complete the six. That’s how highly we rate him. He’s a topguy too who’s won with the final six on two previous occasions and alwayssupports me and our thread. But good as Trent is he will need all your help tofind six winning selections. So I hope you PUPs are back from the summer breakready and refreshed to give him the options he needs to get us off to a winningstart. Don’t forget your selections mustbe listed on Bet365 or Bill Hill and played Sat/Sun/Mon this weekend. Here’s the final six rota for the rest of August : -Aug 9th Trent CanaryAug 16th CD MullinsAug 23rd Swindon CanaryAug 30th Til1010 Thanks to our generous benefactor we have the Norwich match bet againthis season. We are hoping that these final selections will be made by PUPs whowon’t be picking the final six this season. I’m pleased to introduceYellowfuture to the thread who will be making this week’s match bet selection.I know he’d be pleased to see as many suggestions as possible from you PUPsClick on the fixture on the bet365 web site and there’s a whole range ofpossibilities to bet on including result, correct scores, goal scorers,halftime/fulltime, goal times and so on. This should be far more exciting thisseason. Welcome Yellowfuture, you can choose up to six selections either fromthe PUPs suggestions or of your own. Here’s the match bet rota for the rest of August : - Aug 9th YellowfutureAug 16th CrabbycanaryAug 23rd PaulAug 30th Stewfil Don’t forget that Kathy has managed to get us a BOGOF on this season’sCanary Challenge. splutcho 160 Posted August 6, 2014 For the Norwich bet, both teams to score in both halves is 18/1. You never know given we''ve looked rather shaky defensively.

newcastle uni canary 0 Posted August 6, 2014 Aaah it''s nice to be back. Cheers Nutty for keeping this going. My PUPGateshead - Torquay Home win : Gateshead have set there sights on winning the league this year following a playoff final lose last year. A relegated Torquay will probably have similar aims but I''m going to go with my local team to edge it.Norwich BetRussell Martin to score anytime: The only real reason being other than Ruddy he seems to most likely to play and of those 2 I fancy him to score moreGood luck trent not that you need it given your impressive last season

Wonderful to see this return for another season, great work Nutty.Norway for me to start...Molde v Stabaek - Home WinMolde are top, 8pts clear around the halfway point of the season and have 8-1-0 25-7 at home. Stabaek are mid-table with 2-0-6 11-20 away. For the match bet, HT/FT Draw/City looks decent at 13/2.Best of luck Trent, Yellowfuture, and all you PUPs. nutty nigel 7,351 Posted August 7, 2014 Belgium is a topical place to go this week. And from a Rays Funds point of view they''ve already played 2 games in their top league. Anderlecht won both theirs while Charleroi lost both theirs. Hoping they keep their respective 100% records my pick for this weekend is : - Anderlecht v Sporting Charleroi Home Win For the match bet I think Norwich will start much more positively this season. In the friendly last week we got a 2 goal lead early but in the end were pegged back. It''s a long time since we won the first game of the season and Wolves have the momentum we had last time we were in the Champs. So I''m going for Half Timer/Full Time Norwich - Draw which is 14/1 with Bet365. Good luck Trent and Yellowfuture and thanks for being brave enough to step up for the first week. wooster 134 Posted August 7, 2014 This is my first attempt so have gone for wide odds. How''s about:Fleetwood 3-1 home win vs Crewe at 25-1andNorwich win 2-1 at 11-1.
Mr Angry 1,512 Posted August 7, 2014 As others have said, great to have this thread back, and many thanks to Nutty Nigel for looking after it for another season.I''m going to try for some unusual picks this season-but not as obscure as some-no German women''s Under 19 reserve matches! I''m going to pick Dnipro to beat Karpaty at home in the Ukranian league, only played 2 games so far but Dnipro were a lot better than their opponents last season.Good luck to Trentcanary and all other PUPs. PurpleCanary 5,530 Posted August 7, 2014 Sincere thanks to nutty for making this happen for another season, and especially to any newcomers for joining up!To the Russian FNL, where teams have played five games.Anzhi to win at home against Dinamo St Petersburg.Anzhi, who are second, with a 3-1-1 and 6-2 record. No great winning margins, but the defeat was away to the top team.Bottom-placed Dinamo St Petersburg with a 0-2-3 and 2-5 record. No big defeats but no impressive results either. Current odds are 2/9.---For the Norwich bet, suddenly such a realistic a choice without feeling guilty for betting against the team! I like the look of half-time/full-time Wolves 0 Norwich City1/Wolves 1 Norwich City 2 at 25/1.Good luck to all.
