For all those moaning about players wanting out...

Recommended Posts

Just imagine if you had a contract where you £50k salary was reduced to £25k if you didn''t meet your targets. You then have a different company offer you more than you were originally on despite this, you''d have to be very loyal to turn it down. Whether it''s £10k per year, month or week money talks. Also in Fer''s case he''s very unlikely going to be picked for the Netherlands playing for a Championship club.

While i accept your arguement over the wage cut since relegation, Fer like many others were happy to sign a contract with us that no doubt contained a relegation wage cut clause. And Fer like many others last season didnt really bust their guts to get us out of the relegation fight. Sadly, and it is the greed of the modern game, too many players can simply walk away from the contract they signed when their team gets relegated or the going gets tough.
Yes but if we''re not spending money on transfer fees this season, couldn''t we keep the players on their premier league wages for just one season??

Surely give us an immense opportunity to go up. Sure QPR kept most of there top earners for a quick fire return.
and the money for that would come from where ?

ps the clue is to look at how much we received in TV money last season......... and this seasons parachute payments

QPR let their star player Remy go out on loan for a season and would have sold him this if he hadnt failed that medical. They also let Park, Mbia, Taarabt, Samba, Ferdinand all leave aswell as not playing their Brazilian international goalkeeper. I think there are very few examples of teams going down and keeping their players probably Newcastle a few years back being the main exception.

If you lost half your income, how long would you continue your present lifestyle in the hope that something might turn up?A line has to be drawn somewhere and it will be too tight for some and too loose for others. Only a quick return will rectify matters. The idea that you can keep on spending beyond your means maybe attractive to some but it took us 20 yrs to get out of the debt the last time we tried it.If retaining all our players and giving them Prem wages guaranteed promotion then every relegated team would do it. There is a reason why they don''t, just look at the history to see why.

Don''t really see where there''s an issue. Fer was happy to play for us Saturday rather than feign injury but would obviously rather play in a higher league if the opportunity arises. Therefore if QPR are willing to pay what Norwich see as an acceptable price for him then that''s perfectly fine. For Norwich we already have Tettey, Johnson, O''Neil, Hoolahan and Howson competing for 2/3 places in central midfield each week. Therefore we''d probably be better off selling Fer for £8m and bringing in a replacement for Pilkington and Bassong to give us strength in depth in those areas.
