Jim Smith 2,314 Posted August 20, 2014 Saw those comments yesterday and they make no sense really because if a player is not for sale then how can you have "agreed a fee" for him.I think he''s just trying to placate their fanbase or maybe they offered a valuation they had been told would be sufficient by an agent. lharman7 39 Posted August 20, 2014 They probably asked McNally what it would take to buy him so McNally said £10m (speculating). They said ok then but McNally then declined to do business.Simple really and good on McNally, the board and Adams for not giving in.

It's Character Forming 1,160 Posted August 20, 2014 Defo he''s trying to placate their fans. Sounds like there has been discussion via an agent "what would the price be for Redmond ?""£10m (or whatever)""Yes we''ll pay that""No we won''t sell him". It would be a pretty daft discussion if direct between the parties "We''d like to buy Redmond - what''s the price?""It would be £10m""OK we''ll pay that""Sorry no, we''re not willing to sell" Mind you I alway remember the Dean Windass saga when the story was they wanted £X, we made an offer of £Y lower than £X, then had long discussions with Chase trying to bring the price down. Eventually they agreed they''d sell for £Y but Chase said he was no longer interested. I''ve often wondered what would have happened if he''d gone through with the deal. Petriix 2,834 Posted August 20, 2014 Yeah, this makes no sense at all. He is not for sale so there is no asking price. Our valuation would be the point at which we would want to sell because the money was enough. That might be £15m or £20m but there would come a point where we would say "Ok, we didn''t want to sell but we can''t refuse that much". If they didn''t offer enough to actually make us agree to sell him then they did not meet our asking price. What a stupid thing to come out with.
