Redmond

Recommended Posts

Firstly, what a win! Fantastic game and one we thoroughly deserved. Never in any doubt. I thought it was a brilliant team performance, but stand out players for me were Turner, Tettey and Hoolahan.

The only comment I would make it Redmond. Despite being blessed with pace and flair, he looks so reluctant to use it. Very casual and sloppy player at times. I for one, would like to see Josh Murphy pushing Redmond for a start very soon!

Anyway, brilliant win! COYY!

OTBC!

Yeah, I agree. But this isn''t necessarily a bad thing, as we know there''s a lot more to come from Redmond. Lets also not forget that Howson and Hooper are yet to come back into the squad and we''re looking at replacing Fer too. Things are looking very positive right now!

I think he was better today. Not quite at the level he should be performing at, but a massive improvement from earlier games.

I thought Redmond did well today. He is starting to look more composed and looks to be trying to make good decisions.  Still some way to go, but a couple of good shots on target today, some neat passes and crosses - but still some wayward stuff in amongst that.   It is easy to pick out his bad stuff, but a lot of the time he is a real problem for defences and contributed well to the overall team performance.   Will only get better as the team progresses.

I think he''s doing ok.

I think if he was a homegrown youngster he''d be afford a little more patience

I thought Redmond gave a much more mature performance today; defended deep (asasked I assume) and used his pace to support attacks, particularly in the second half.

He did not waste possession (one wild shot?) and appeared less frantic and more measured on the ball, keeping it well; using his pace to create space for his fellow attackers.

He is part of a successful working system, and for me anyway, currently well ahead of murphy in terms of who starts.

agree not use his potential at full but always treat and make full back to stay at his zone very long.

I more worried about Lafferty.

He look very poor last 2 games.

He look really strange at times and try to do things who never can try with this body.

Play too deep back and is very far from goal;s this man.

Soon will loose his place if keep this way to perform imo.

Over all solid game but now we short on centre defenders so now or never for Bassong to be back...

Redmond looked far better today. His crossing was alot better (almost 30% crossing accuracy) and his shooting was alot more composed (I can only remember one wild shot). It seemed to me that he was actually weighing up what he should do before attempting it, which is exactly what you need to do. He also attempted a couple of through-balls behind Ipswich''s defence for runners to latch onto, which is great to see. One of the main reasons you play inverted wingers is that their attacks tend to be more varied and Redmond needs to use every option available to him when playing on the left to really get the most out of that role.

he looked a lot better today

and some of his interplay with other players was lot better

but he is learning and can only get better if they team as a whole is playing well

Why the negative comments again?

This season learning curve for both Redmond & Murphy will show next season back in the premiership.

Redmond is quality and young.

If he had the end product some expect he would not be playing for Norwich!

You can see the coaching influence of Adams working with Redmond.

He is not as gung ho as he was and is deliberately trying to slow his game down a bit and concentrate more on his final ball.

He doesnt look to be playing his natural game with pace atm but once he becomes more accomplished and really gets his pace going again he will be a marvellous player. What we are watching at the moment is his transformation which may well appear a little frustrating and inconsistent at times.

No. Redmond and garrido are[/quote]All three, Redmond, Garrido and Whittaker, had decent games today. Redmond looked threatening whenever he got the ball, OK he still didn''t have quite the right end product, but he was causing all sorts of problems by running at the opposition, switching flanks and offering himself as an outlet to relieve pressure in the last 15 minutes. 7/10Whittaker switched from left back to right back after only 5 minutes after Ryan Bennett had to go off, but was part of a defence that kept a clean sheet and he never really looked as if the Ipswich wingers were putting him under pressure. 6.5/10Garrido came on after 5 minutes, was visibly carrying a knock after 25, but continued to play on. Committed to offering the overlap down the left, even with this lack of mobility through injury, which created space for Redmond and Hoolahan to exploit. 7/10 If people think that these are the worst players that we have in our squad then things are looking very good indeed for this season as I suspect that just about every team in the Championship would be happy with these three in their starting line up.

What do you mean?

If you read on here what people expect from a lightning fast 20 year old, he''d be playing for Chelsea or Man City.

Some on here think he should be Garath Bale!!

Redmond played his part in this fine win today.

This season should make or break him. If he stays injury free, there will be a constant stream of games for him to show continual improvement.

The fact that his manager is a former successful winger provides him with the perfect opportunity to learn rapidly and fulfil his potential.

Thought Garrido was excellent today - defensively solid and always provided an option left, and had good effort late on which could have been a great goal.

Whittaker on the other hand looked decidedly shakey and a weak link in an otherwise solid back 4. We need some cover there pronto. Maybe that can be Cuellar but actually we dont have a specialist right sided full back other than Whittaker. Rus is a centre back really, and Cuellar another who is a centre back who can play at full back. Can we just get a really decent specialist right full back please, and we''ll be sorted!

Thought Redmond had a decent game today, played with his head up and linked well with Garrido early.

Whittaker looked like our achilles heel.

Otherwise a good performance. Kyle Lafferty should ''steady up and play ball'' or he''ll banned or injured soon.

The statement is stupid.

Right up there with the stupidity people that think he should be Gareth Bale.

You could say "If (insert ANY RANDOM PLAYER NAME HERE) had so and so and so and so they''d be playing (add any top club name))",. Saying a stupid thing because other people say stupid things, isn''t a defense....

I don''t know what the hell you are on about and I doubt you do too!

My point is that expecting too much from a 2.5 millikn 19 year old signing with potential is daft.

If he had the final ball and shot like others on here want he would have been worth 15-20 million and not in a Norwich shirt......but if you''re too blind to see this then fine.....that''s my last response on the matter with you.

Lay off Redmond now that Snodders has gone we don''t need to single out a player as a scapegoat but encourage his development.

End off.

As the commentators also pointed out, Chambers did his absolute best to be within touching distance of Redders at all times today.

He''s a danger and teams do concentrate on stopping him to stop our ability to move the ball forwards on the floor. The beauty of our current setup, however, means that no matter how hard they try, the opposition is always likely to forget about one of our attackers which is great news for us.

don''t bother Indy, I tried to make a point yesterday, all he did was confuse himself, the best thing is to leave it. Leave it for greater minds than he

I believe you''re right!

I''m not sure what he was trying to get at?

It''s another great win and all players should feel proud of the response since the Wolves game.

Great for Adams, players, the board and us the fans. :-)

Whilst I agree with the OP and believe young Murphy has shown his ability (eg v Blackburn); Redmond is improving, he rarely loses the ball when running forward and while he is running forward, the opposition are not. Credit to him also for the way he seems to have forged a working attacking partnership with Garrido.

That said I''d like to see Murphy on earlyish in the second half - he has (almost?) as much pace and is prepared to take the ball to the line before putting it into the area (surely Adams''s coaching?). I think Redmond can learn from the youngster Murphy and the two of them can plague tired defences. Adams will be all to aware of Murphy''s potential of course.
