The 1p5wich factor

Recommended Posts

Six points at stake.  Four years ago it helped us go up.  Last season it would have put Ipswich in the play-offs.   The two matches are going to be huge to both clubs next season.   I don''t see a 9-2 coming, but two hard fought matches at which we hope to get all six points.   With Grant Holt we had a battling side that refused to give in to anybody - imo we will need that again - especially in the derby matches.   McCarthy is no mug and will improve his team next season.   Its going to be tough, but this fixture is going to be a big one - both in terms of results and psychologically.   Six points and it gives us that boost in points and in feel good factor.  Lose one or both and it gives the other team the boost.

When I think of this fixture, the moment when Wark was sent off in 1995 always comes to mind.  A memorable match for the score - our biggest win against them until 2010/11, but that moment was key.  Adams played in that match too - he will certainly understand what it takes and how important this fixture is.

How much would we give for six points from the binners this season..........

well apropos the TWTD posting currently here.

I sense that the elation surrounding our relegation exhibited by those down south is gradually turning into realism as it slowly dawns on them that the moment of truth is getting ever nearer.
Guess what there''s 44 other games just a important as these 2 games

Sit down shut up about the team down the road
Of course there are 44 other games, but if it pains you to talk about them and the rivalry that exists, then that is up to you.  Fact remains that when it comes down to it, local derbies are special and this coming season will be no exception.  The bragging rights will be up for grabs again - and the six points will be vital to whoever can get them.
Yes LDC the derbies are still a bit special but in no way as special as they were back in the day. Traditionally Christmas and Easter fixtures - ? now who knows when they''ll be ? - coupled with strange KO times has managed to dilute and sanitize the whole shebang.Personally I don''t really care if they beat us 9-2 on aggregate this season providing we''re back in the Premier league this time next year.

Mite be two draws then both teams will drop 4 points or gain 2 whichever way you look at it

Nowhere near as special. Just another team in the same division who happen to be closer to Norwich than others.

No more interested in them than Rotherham.

Sometimes in the past you''d have to admit beating Ipswich (or trying, as we didn''t beat them very often) was the highlight of our season... more recently it''s faded as a fixture to look forward to for a number of reasons. It''s a shame really as every club ought to have it''s "derby" to be passionate about - it''s just part of the football experience.

So I welcome it, and would prefer that we continue to do battle each other every year in the Premier League.
