Ruddy article

This article has me more than a little baffled and annoyed.

I have/had a lot of time and respect for Brooking but it reads as total drivel.

He states that it was Forster that kept Ruddy out of the squad, when in fact they were both in it together until Hodgson went and convinced Foster to come out of international retirement after playing no part in qualifying and being far from representing the future of England.

It''s a joke.

The FA ( and FIFA for that matter) live in their own little cocooned world where only a few teams and the Premier League matter.By Brooking''s admission you are chosen based on where your team finishes in the Premier League and not on how good you are.No wonder England have been utter shite then for the last 20+ years.

Agreed - covering for an unjustifiable decision, especially after Hodgsons comments about Terry''s retirement.

Welbecks poor form and not playing did him no harm - nor Wilshire and the Ox not playing for much of the season.

Yes, it''s bad enough having to live with Hodgson''s slimebag behaviour, so we can well do without Brooking attempting to justify the process. And are we interested in the opinion of a 24 carat failure when it comes to football management?

Annoyed yes but you shouldn''t be baffled.

The FA have always employed yes men and puppets and unfortunately Roy Hodgson is no different.

The FA hierarchy is full of old fuddy duddies who are too set in there own ways and are too afraid of change.

It needs a whole new change of personnel with the emphasis on younger and fresh idea personnel.

Agree with all that has been said.

Sometimes it''s better not to open your mouth, absolutely crazy decision.

One or two games against Barcelona? FFS treat us (but especially JR) with a bit more respect than that.

When the FA had the very real opportunity of appointing Brian Clough as England Manager in 1977 they went for "nice" Ron Greenwood.

In 1982 they ignored Clough again and went for "nice" Bobby Robson.

Now Robson was far from the worse choice they could have made then-but 1x FA Cup and 1x UEFA Cup with Ipswich against Clough''s two League titles, two European Cups and a few League Cups??

We bang on-rightly-about FIFA and all their ills at the top. But the FA are hardly a model organisation themselves. David Davies'' book reinforces that very nicely-very old boys network and "who you know".

I was tempted to start a thread on this yesterday because this article really pi55ed me off.

I rate Forster but his season consisted of a couple of decent European games and scores of fixtures involving teams in the poorest Scottish Premier League in years. It would probably have been more difficult keeping goal against the Dagenham Girl Pipers.

Ruddy was facing World Class strikers most weeks and he made some bloody good saves. Without him, our season could''ve been even more embarrassing.

All this article is likely to do is stir up more bloody rumours JR will want to move back to the PL and may even make him think twice about staying.

Thanks Trevor - if you couldn''t be bothered to visit CR enough times to assess JR properly - keep your trap shut!

He conceded 6 at the Camp Nou this season too! 14 Champions League goals conceded in total. In his last 5 games he conceded 9 goals, Ruddy conceded 10. Ruddy''s were behind one of the weakest defences in the division and his opponents; Fulham, Liverpool, United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Forster was behind the best defence in his division and conceded against; Motherwell, Inverness, Aberdeen, St Johnson and Dundee United. Based on form, there isn''t much of an argument. On age, Ruddy is 27 and Forster 26, again not much in that.

Dave Watson coached both Joe Hart and Ben Foster on a day to day basis while he was at Birmingham. From that experience he has probably come to the conclusion that they are both better than Ruddy,
