Kyle Lafferty To Sign
Some reports of 6 million euros! I bloomin'' well hope not! Maybe for half that at best! If it is £4.8m then maybe it''s performance related.
You''d think/hope any fee like that would be based on us getting promoted.

Not sure if its different now but have just finished Alan Stubbs'' autobiography and he mentions more than once that the Celtic and Rangers players socialised a lot together when he was at Celtic and were not at all affected or bothered by the ''rivalry'', at least not to the levels of hate that the fans of each club make it. Added that Celtic and Rangers players mixed and ''hung out'' together a lot more than Liverpool and Everton ones did when he was at Everton.

So don''t think Lafferty and Hooper will be in the least bit concerned about the other being here, at least, not from that perspective.
Why oh Why, are we getting tied up in all this stats business!!!! Makes no odds, did Fergie worry about stats when signing Cantona or Bebe!!! Makes no difference, has he ever played with two outright wingers, or be told to play up front on his own!!Dont worry your plastic little scarfs over it!! If contributes and gets us promotion that will all that matters!!! Or if he scores a double against the Scum!!
Actually, one of my favourite stories regarding statistics (and their misuse in football) is related to Ferguson. Remember Jaap Stam? He was a very good defender, excellent reader of the game. Well, he was sold in 2001 by Man Utd. as Ferguson thought he was ''getting on a bit''. He thought this for a couple of reasons. 1) Stam was 29 2) He had recently just come back from an achilles injury and 3) His tackling statistics had recently declined sharply. Ferguson sold him, convinced that he was on his last legs.
He played for six more years, with Lazio, Milan and Ajax.

It shouldn''t be Lafferty that is concerned if garbage like Hooper is still around, it should be fans.

Well Waveney Wiz you have some support from the other camp:-

From TWTD under the heading "Kyle Lafferty for £3m."

Good to see agent Adams is carrying on the good work whoTon started Bang happy getting them in August, get right into the c@nts Yes I am right up for the derby already

What a sublime piece of illogical thinking from those without a pot to pass water in.

They continue to gyrate frantically to seek any possible negative from anything done by NCFC.

The grapes continue to grow sour in deepest, darkest Suffolk.

Having said that, I would prefer it to be three million Euros rather than Pounds Sterling. It could also mean that somebody, probably a striker, is very near to the exit door.

No offence Broadstairs, but what do you expect, they''re our rivals...

...''Ipswich Crazy'' on the other hand, well thats a different level entirely.

Those spitting their dummies out over the prospect of signing Lafferty (and in some cases Grabban) need a reality check.

The Premier League days have gone. It will now be very difficult to attract proven high quality strikers to Norwich when Hull, Burnley, Leicester and Palace are able to trump us with ease. Expectations need to be seriously adjusted.

You can thank Hughton for that.

Not unexpected Mrs. M. but an interesting skew of events none-the-less.

As is this reaction to Fer''s goal today.

"He won''t (LR) be there next season though, has already asked for a transfer apparently."

News to me. Have I missed something or have they moved on from just twisting the facts to making things up?

I do find negativity on this one strange! Great goal ratio considering he''s played wide a lot, always looked good when I''ve seen him and looked exciting at Burnley, those looking at just his goal ratio aren''t getting the whole picture.

Amazing how we write players off before they''ve kicked a ball sometimes. Instantly an uphill battle.

Tbh this sounds rather similar to Holt when we signed him - a bit of a journeyman, stats not the best but again often not played as a striker, some just unconvinced. Imo he has a decent enough record and played at a good level, we have to trust the judgement of those in power that they have done their homework, time will tell. Of course, the many who slate each and every signing will take more convincing.

I don''t know whether he is a top player or not. I don''t know the top Scottish team at the time signed him and now he has dropped to the Italian 2nd division.

I vaguely remember him but rarely saw him play.

But all I do know is that, if true, it signals somebody reading the needs of NCFC. Four of our forwards were got rid of in the last two seasons and replaced with mere strikers.

I hope it returns to a sensible approach that you cannot just play one up front and in the Championship, you will need to look after yourself and each other when playing up front. So someone with the apparent belligerent attitude of Lafferty ought to be a great foil for a goalscoring partner.

I''m happy with this signing. We badly needed a target man and should chip in with 10 or so goals. I do hope we haven''t paid over a million though, at least up front. I also agree with others who have said it appears Adams is being backed to build a team in his style. Grabban and Lafferty are very Lambert like signings

Btw Becchio is not a target man! He rarely wins anything in the air, doesn''t link up well and isn''t very strong at all! He''s a poacher just like RVW and Hooper, he''s just taller.
we have signed himwell fair play to you for knowing about this before others
I''m a psychic you see. We sign him tomorrow, swap deal with Mark Bunn and Steve Morison going the other way +30k in cross accuracy related bonuses

Kyle Lafferty is a giant of a man and very strong in the air. We need a player like that.

If a couple of million then could be good business.

We have been desperate for an aggressive big man with a strong presence since Holt left.

If we go into the season with Grabban, Hooper, Lafferty and one out of Becchio and Van Wolfswinkel then I should think that would be a very good strike force at this level?

Lafferty solves a problem area. People have short memories because Lambert felt he needed a player like that and signed Wilbraham for £100k. Made no sense at the time but perfect sense within a few months.

If we can get promoted using Wilbraham then we can get promoted using Lafferty!
problem for the paupers is that their cup final comes before the ''loan window opens - after the first week of Septemberwhich, given their policy of having a transfer budget of fark hall may mean they are barely able to scrape together 16 players for the game - as they are presently waiting to see what scrapings are left after other clubs have had the first pick of the freebies and cast offsas to selling our players, it must be galling for our impoverished neighbours to know that the sale of a couple of our players could equal their TOTAL income for next seasonand that in parachute payments alone we will receive about double their TOTAL income

Lol, Ipswich trying to mug us off!

So we''re getting Lafferty in as a back up striker and they think the end is nigh for us. Personally, last season was a blip. Have they got anyone anywhere near as good as Leroy Fer, Martin Olsson, John Ruddy or Rob Snodgrass? Nobody even close! If we supplement with a few more clever signings like Lafferty where we lacked options last season I believe we''ll blow this division away and be back in the premiership this time next year. This year can then be viewed as us just wanting to beat them a couple more times to put them firmly in their place!

I wouldn''t be quite as confident as that JS as there are too many imponderables. Even all of the players you mentioned could be gone by the time the first game of the new season arrives for example.

I believe in a more cautious optimism and feel that if we retain most of the current squad, add to it wisely and adopt more adventure in our style of play than seen in recent times then, with our financial clout and fabulous support it would defy logic if we were not there or thereabouts throughout the season.

With ITFC it is difficult to assess. Many of their support believe that McCarthy is possessed of the magic touch in the transfer market whereby he alone can spot a gem on the cheap whilst also being able to transform quite ordinary players up to  hitherto unattained levels after a few weeks under his wings.

Team spirit, bonhomieand and devotion to the cause is the mantra down south as Mick and his lads storm into contention next season.

This may or may not be valid even though the almost total dismissal of the need for funds might seem somewhat unrealistic.

Mick McCarthy would seem to be under a certain amount of pressure at PR for the first time since he has been there as high expectations have become rife.

This could go either way though and I would love us to put a nail or two in his coffin next season.

Unless we get silly money (£15m+) for Fer, i''d say no deal. If we''re still down here in a years time then maybe knock a little off. Snodgrass with his one year left is a different case slightly but I don''t see why we should just accept that our players should be sold off cheaply. There are fine margins, if we''d beaten WBA at home we''d still be a premiership club which shows that most of our players can hack it at that level. If we are selling, we''re selling at the going rate for premiership players.

Ipswich will be happy enough floating around midtable I think.

If you have the arrogant attitude that we will walk the league, you will be in for a very nasty shock.

On the bright side, I see Fulham are to sign Australian Adam Taggart, so things could be worse.

Lafferty confirms on his facebook he is leaving his current club, although doesn''t specifically mention Norwich.also states the club were the ones who wanted to sell, so he is respecting the decision. guessing we paid alright money for his value to get him

He''s been banging goals in since his move away from Perth Glory.

Bet half the people commenting on this don''t even know who Lafferty is.

No matter who we sign... everyone suddenly becomes an overnight YouTube expert

Maybe not walk, but we should be having that target in mind. Nhere is absolutely no point in selling our best players for pitiful amounts that aren''t going to help us in the long run and get swallowed up by income tax etc. I''d rather we went for it properly this season and if it doesn''t work, we start adapting to life in the second tier then. For now though, we should see ourselves as a premiership club stuck in the championship.

I think we were more like a Championship club stuck in the Premiership , and any bit of class we do have Snodgrass , Hooper Fer etc will be gone before the season starts .

Signing somebody like Rhodes would have made the statement we want to go back up , signing Lafferty just screams we are going to be down here for another decade .

McNally promised a better player in for everyone that left , Lafferty isn''t a great start is it .

I agree with this;   one thing the world cup has shown is the value of team work;   the most impressive sides are making the most of their (sometimes limited) talents by ensuring that the whole squad understands what their role is,simply being organised and working together.  The USA side in particular emphasis this,  although the same applies to Mexico & Chile.   Its also noticable that with a settled team ethic both France and The Netherlands are performing well.    The worst sides (Cameroon, England & Portugal) in particular have lacked that team cohesion and  have struggled as a result.

As far as Lafferty leaving, its pretty clear that Palermo dont see him helping even as (or probably especially as) a squad player in Serie A.

Again, I think that is a very dangerous attitude (seeing ourselves as Premiership team in the Championship). That will only lead to failure and disappointment. I appreciate what you''re trying to say, but we are in this division on merit, and deserve to be there.

I think everyone needs to relax a bit, I don''t believe he''s coming in to be a prominent player, but more as a replacement fourth choice for the likely-leaving Becchio. How many times did we see Becchio as a fourth choice striker? exactly. he will have (of what we have now) Hooper, Grabban, RVW in front of him and fighting for a squad place with Loza.

Can''t see it like that.

If he''s coming it''ll be to be a first team regular or near enough.
