Redmond on the move?

Recommended Posts

Redmond IS good enough to play for a top Championship team, Josh Murphy COULD be good enough to play for a top Championship team.

I personally hope we try and get at least a season out of our better players we have and if we''re nowhere near in January, we start the selling and adapting to life at this level. I truly believe we could have a squad far too good for this level at the moment and it would be nice to see if we do. It''s not disrespecting the championship, far from it. It''s the hardest, most unpredictable league to get out of so while we have the advantage of top international players (Fer) and potential £20m players (Redmond) we should use it before it''s too late. We lose nothing by keeping this squad and giving it one more go.

It is in the nature of some posters to enjoy a good worry and take pleasure in sharing their condition with others.

A bunch of old women my father would have said!

We are in good shape and have no need to sell, lets just keep it that way.

''Has nothing but pace''.......some would argue Redmond is no different.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Its almost like a no contest for me atm, Redmond has the skills to be a premier league player and will be very soon as he has the pace, technical ability and work ethic shown. Murphy on the other hand (who I think atm looks like an exciting impact super sub for a mid table championship side ala mcnamee and I think will be a good, exciting player in a few years) doesn''t have the work rate to always track back in situation where you need to track back (Adams always likes to keep the murphys up front to counter attack but he often just lets our full back on his own against 2 or 3 players) also like most pacey players can very often not even look up to see if there''s a pass on, redmond does this a bit and is something they learn in experience. All in all our team lacked pace last season, redmond being the only direct threat we had, we know that murphy at this stage isn''t good enough to play every game in this league who''s also lightning quick, so its a no brainer for me, no sale.

I think there''s a difference in development. Redmond broke into the Birmingham squad 2 seasons ago and got a decent amount of playing time last season. Murphy seems quite like Redmond when he arrived here. Redmond had to work hard to improve his tracking back and Murphy now needs to do the same. Both show good promise and should do well this season.

Many posters seem to have forgotten we have two Murphys, imo two seasons ago Jacob was slightly the better player. Although they are twins I suspect they progress at slightly different rates,

I think all the youngsters who have come through the U21s to the 1st Team squad have a good chance of proving they are the real deal this season. Possibly more so for the attackers (Murphy x 2, and Jamar Loza) as most managers are happier giving an attacking player his chance earlier, simply because a mistake isn''t as costly or potentially damaging to the individual concerned.

That said, Adel Gafaiti is a very focussed and grounded individual, who I think would do a good job if called upon. Remi Matthews will probably be 3rd choice keeper (assuming Bunn leaves) but even so is a good shot stopper, so he too could do a job, and remember all these lads are learning and coming on all the time and they can only do that by playing.

IMO NA will not be backward in coming forward in giving them a chance if the opportunuity arises.
his approach play may be Premier League his crossing is Non League
That''s why he had a higher cross success rate than Snoddy, along with a higher pass accuracy, more succesful dribbles, and let''s not forget more assists as well - all despite the vast majority of our play being focused through Snodgrass regardless of how badly he was playing. So what more ballcocks would you like to come up with, that can be easily proven as utter nonsense?Frankly I''m glad to see that back of Snoddy as hopefully it means we''ll get back to having wingers with pace who don''t insist on slowing down play whenever possible whilst cutting onto their stronger foot 95% of the time and thereby losing the quick counter opportunity in the process...
