Adam Clayton

Recommended Posts

Wigan Athletic and Norwich City have both entered the race to sign Huddersfield Town’s in-demand midfielder Adam Clayton, according to Vital Football.

Clayton has been a recent target of Middlesbrough in recent weeks, but it is now understood by the website that both Norwich and Wigan will test the Terriers resolve and submit a big money bid for the player.

The 25 year old Mancunian impressed for the Yorkshire club last season, as Huddersfield endured a topsy turvy campaign, with Clayton scoring seven goals in 42 League appearances.

Wigan have cash to burn in this summer’s market, with Dave Whelan

on the look out to improve his current squad, having already made five

signings this summer, as they look to improve on last campaign’s

play-off semi final heartache.

Recently relegated Norwich are also interested in the former Leeds United man, who signed for Huddersfield in the summer of 2012.

Neil Adams is looking for a player with flair and creativity, and is all set to lose the trio of Gary Hooper, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, and Leroy Fer following the Norfolk clubs relegation from the Premier League in May.

Adams has been promised funds by the City board, with Huddersfield

set to ask both Wigan and Norwich for around £3 million for the player.

Clayton only has a year remaining on his current deal at

Huddersfield, with the John Smith’s Stadium outfit keen to tie him down

for further years.

The midfielder has been out in Portugal with his Huddersfield team-mates, on a pre-season tour.

If we''re going for a Huddersfield midfielder I''d rather we signed the guy who''s name I''ve just forgotten, takes the corners and does a bit of passing and that you know the one
