We need to BUY 2 NEW MIDFIELDERS by the end of August

Recommended Posts

Okay - enough is enough. Sinking to our lowest leagure position in my living memory is quite frankly disgraceful. But our woeful performances is contributing to the fans absolute frustration. Worthington MUST buy two new mids by the end of August or it will be a VERY long season. Huckerby excused, we have absolutely no creativity in midfield. What is the point of having a £7M + rated striker like Ashton if we can''t supply him with balls to attack and score from???? We need players who can put their foot on the ball and play it. We don''t have them - and WE NEED them NOW! We have £2M to spend - we must buy mids now. Failure to do so by Worthy will result in his sacking - of that I am certain.

We certainly could do with at least one creative / box-to-box midfielder but, in all fairness, it was our strikers that let us down yesterday. However, the main problem for the whole team right now is a lack of confidence and self-belief, and the fault for that presumably lies fairly and squarely at the feet of the management team.

If we knew francis was going i think we should have kept Mulryne until we had a creative midfielder in place he may have been lazy but could put his foot on the ball and make the defence splitting pass we dont have anyone that can do that at the moment

We had no idea against Southampton last saturday and we had no idea against leeds either

I agree that the coaching staff could do with a kick up the back side or replacing we seem to get caught out for the same old things.

I''m not slating worthy its out of his hands when they  walk out on the pitch but we need a rethink? PDQ

We can''t keep blaming the defence they were constantly under pressure the whole game and somethings got to give . having said that we were unlucky for the goal it was handled in the area the pass before the goal went in Anyway lets hope things pick up soon its a long drive back to basingstoke when you see a game like that?

i agree linknr9, that the whole team are completely lacking in confidence the management need to get them all bumped up like never before to go to stoke and get ALL three points because as each game goes by we are dropping further and further behind the pace setters in this league. We are already NINE points from the top placed team. i think that when that first win comes and the team start beleveing again that they can beat every team in this league on their day, we can start getting this season back on track.

And by buying that much needed francis replacement i think that would give the whole team a boast going into the next couple of games

Definitely agree we need a midfield enforcer/playmaker to partner with Saf (who has been doing sterling work but can''t run central midfield alone). I think Worthy thought Hughes was this man and he certainly seems keen enough but his tackling/passing seems a bit too wayward (notwithstanding that superb cross he put in to Ashton when he scored on the volley against Palace). Jury definitely still out on Jarrett/Charlton in this role too. Haven''t seen Marney play there but doesn''t seem to have made a massive difference in the last couple of games (plus with his crossing ability we really need him on the right).

Anyone heard any transfer rumours on this front? Has the Sidwell story gone cold? Anyone else in the frame?

I was indifferent about Francis going but we are missing someone in the mould of Francis at his best - he was a key player for us when on form - regaining posession and pressing forward, and lurking on the edge of the box and banging in stray balls very frequently (winner against WBA springs to mind)...
