Robbo007 0 Posted August 28, 2005 As marmite suggested in another post, use Hucks in the hole behind the front 2, then play a 3-1-3-1-2 formation, sounds stupid yeh? well no, not if you look at it like this: Wingbacks! Green Fleming Doherty Shackell Safri Marney Hughes/Jarrett Brennan Huckerby Leon Ashton
Brum Uni Canary 0 Posted August 28, 2005 As long as the wing backs were prepared to run back fast at every break! Looks good, especially if the defenders are on form like Shackell''s recent performances. People are starting to say Ashton and McKenzie shouldn''t play together which is another idea...put McVeigh, Henderson or Hucks as one of the front 2 perhaps. Not sure about Hughes/Jarrett as the central player given what I''ve seen of them this season though. With the very first "interactive" TV programme last night - Casualty, where viewers got to vote on who died and who survived - I think we should do a simliar thing.....everyone texts in during the match to vote on formations and also who should come on and when The striker pairing might have been split at 60 or 70 minutes instead of us having to watch the shambolic display the attacking players gave us. AJ 1,358 Posted August 28, 2005 we only need a one man team: Â 13. the fans.......
breaker 0 Posted August 29, 2005 Would rather have Colin than Fleming - both he and Doc are too slow which would leave us vulnerable. Colin may not be quite as good defensively (yet) but he is quick and good control.
ZLF 334 Posted August 29, 2005 Which ever formation I come up with it is the midfield that looks weak! I like the wing back option but have concerns about marney doing that job well (and MLJ and colin too!) and like the idea of hux having a free role.Alternatively we could go 3-1-4-1-1 with a midfield diamond ish shape which uses the players in roughly their preferred positions. Hughes would be the Makelele breaker up and get the ball to safri to pass. Marney and drury (brennan currently) on the flanks working up and down with safri and jarrett encouraged to get into the box when hux goes forward. With 5 midfielders weight of number woudl hopefully mean we get more of the ball and so can pass and play football to the Green Flem Doc Shacks Hughes Marney Jarret Safri Drury Hux AshtonMy preference remains 4-2-3-1Colin Doc Shacks Drury Hughes Safri Marney McVeigh Hux Ashton Which I think would sui marney and hux better in particular - the problem positions being midfield with Hughes and McVeigh. Bentley or Krist.. or Jarrett in for McVeigh and god knows who for Hughes. This would give us 4 real midfielders going backwards and some attacking ability going forward with Ashton staying pentaly box bound waiting for the ball. However if our defenders cant get the hang of a basic 4-4-2 why would any other formation work!?!?!? AJ 1,358 Posted August 29, 2005
what about this then Green Colin Shackell Drury (when fit) Marney Mcveigh Safri Hughes Brennan Ashton Huckerby
5 men across midfield would not be a bad idea, but with huckerby then roaming paople would simply get in each others way, yes paeople would get into the box, but i have a feeling they would just over crowd it every time we get near the goal.
