Preparing for next year

Recommended Posts

I can''t even begin to start talking about today''s game, so looking forward, what would you do for next year?

Who do you want managing us? Who should we be desperate to keep? Who should be out of the door?

I''m assuming we start next year in the Championship by the way, it''ll take a miracle now to stay up.

Personally if we can prise away Howe from Bournemouth I''d be happy to go with him, but it seems unlikely, so I''m undecided on the manager. I''d go all out to try and keep Snodgrass, Turner, Ruddy, Howson and Tettey, but aside from that, I''m not too bothered.

And christ knows who we''d get in, I''d need a think...

Snodgrass and Ruddy deserve to be playing Premier League football and should go without any hard feelings from the fans. I''d like to see Howson, Turner, and Olsson stay but I''m not really fussed about the rest.As for the manager I''m sure I''ll be alone in this but I would like to see Tim Sherwood. After 2 years of turgid negative football under Hughton the most important thing is we start enjoying football again with attacking play and a manager who''s a bit of a mentalist. Sherwood will have something to prove after being give the boot from Spurs despite a good record, and the things he''s been saying to the press about giving young English players a chance make me think he''d be a good choice to deal with our most promising youth team in ages.

Agreed they deserve it, but I''d still fight tooth and nail to keep them. Would have to agree to disagree on Sherwood. Seems a bit mentally unstable.

We need some excitement back at Carrow Road and what better than a manager throwing his clothes around.

I agree Dandy. Lets have a mad fighting team with a passion like Wimbledon used to have with Vinny Jones and little man Wise etc.

Not forgetting Mr. Fashanu

Forgot one player, I''d love Elliott Bennett to play a starring role next year, I think we can all agree on that one.

Just might be able to help you out there. He goes by the letters BFS, Big Fat Sam! Only drawbacks are he likes to park the 19th century bus, play up and under football, forget about using tactics and demand a big salary for doing it. Interested? Apply to Upton Park in the not to distant future hopefully. Good luck for staying up!

For next year, assuming we don''t sign anybody, and we lose Ruddy, Snodgress, RvW, Fer, Bassong, Pilkington... I''d revert to diamond and pacy overlapping wing backs,,, Redmond as a free roaming tip of the diamond - not sure he''s up to it, but he certainly has the pace to skin championship defenders and as long as he stays calm he can score goals or set up goals for Becchio and Hooper who could be a deadly combo at that level.

.............................Bunn

E. Bennett R.Bennett Turner Olsson

..........................Johnson

...................Tettey Howson

....................... Redmond

...................Hooper.....Becchio

If we got Pardew the casino at Gt Yarmouth would be rubbing their hands. We are dealing with the fall out from one Newcastle cast off i do not particularly want to see another

Malkey for me now. Both experienced and successful at championship level. It needs such a person to see through the transition of offloading players and persuading the good ones to stay. We will have some cash and he does know a good championship player and also knows the tactics to get results

For me going with Malky means we might as well of stayed with Hughton. So that''s a no.

Amazingly on the sack race website Worthy is fourth favourite!

Got to agree, we probably have the players in our current squad to do well in the championship.

Hooper and becchio are proven goal scorers at that level, both 20+ strikers.

We have other player not even playing at the moment like hoolahan, fox and surman, all played a part in our promotion.

When we are relegated (sorry for the pessimism but that''s surely inevitable now?) there will inevitably be a huge overhaul in personnel. Out of the current squad I would envisage the following leaving. I don''t necessarily agree with it, I just think circumstances will dictate that:

Bassong - I think he may return to France;

Pilkington - appears to have checked out mentally quite a long time ago;

Turner - out of contract this summer and in my opinion is good enough to pick up a lower end Premiership team;

Howson - he may stay but the reality is that I think somebody like Hull or Leicester will take a punt on him;

Snodgrass - has been our best performer since February and will definitely get a decent move;

Hoolahan - all does not appear well with him given that he hasn''t figured under Adams much either. Will probably move on;

Fox - very much a forgotten man who could do a very tidy job for Norwich next season but he is out of contract and would move on you would thin;

Tettey - again out of contract and another you would expect to leave at the end of this season;

RVW - needs to leave Norwich asap for his own sanity and ours;

Fer - has in truth been a disappointment but I think he has enough of a reputation to secure a move;

Ruddy - probably one of the few players who deserves Premier League football but he may struggle to find it as there aren''t many openings for a keeper in the Premier League at the moment.

For Manager I think either Simon Grayson, Mark Robins or the hugely likeable Billy Davies.

No foreign manager for the Championship, but it is a sad fact we may not be able to attract Grayson or Robins.

I would prefer Grayson. Not convinced by Malky, Sherwood or Lennon.

Pardew would be interesting but can''t see it happening.
