When we are relegated who will we be stuck with?

Recommended Posts

With the lack of fight and spirit shown by the team we have seen lately. How many will be up for a championship fight. Not many and those who would be an asset will find other premier clubs e.g. Snoddy and Ruddy. We''ll be stuck with the likes of Bassong, Whittaker, Fer and RVW.

Others on here seem to think it will be easy to offload the dross there is unlikely to be takers for these losers. We are in for a long haul in the championship.

Bunn/Rudd

Most of the squad will be going nowhere in the Premiership with exception of Ruddy. Not even the newly promoted clubs would be interested because as this year proved they simply are not good enough!

You think we will be stuck with the likes of RVW, Fer and Bassong, while we are unable to prevent the sale of Ruddy and Snodgrass? Why?

Ruddy and Snodgrass are under contract.

RVW and Fer will still have a good reputation abroad. More will depend on how prepared we are to sell for a cut price compared to last year than on a lack of suitors. And Bassong still has a decent pedigree and isn''t exactly a terrible player - he has been a key figure in our demise but needn''t have been.

We''re not necessarily in for a long haul in the Championship so long as our chief executive has a good next 6 months, having had a shocker in the last 12.

Bassong was inconsistent this year, at times he was really good, at times he was pretty poor (though the latter didn''t happen as much) he is a part of our struggles but a fairly small one. The real issue was the lack of goals and poor creativity from the midfield (though if there was more creativity our strikers would do nothing with it). Our defense has looked 80 times worse when Bassong hasn''t been in there.

If any of the newly promoted teams try to buy Hooper they will be guaranteeing relegation, we are going to be stuck with him and hopefully he doesn''t cause relegation to League 1. Might be stuck with RvW too, but who knows maybe a Portuguese side comes calling. Hopefully a league 2 team puts an offer in for Turner cause he needs to go.

Absolutely agree Surfer. With the right manager, a few new faces, mainly to add spice up front, this would be a very strong squad in the Championship.Hooper would be very strong in this league, as I would expect, if we were to keep him, RVW. I am sure the latter would develop well. The World Cup will be over so no one would be desperate to move on so as to impress for national team places, so we may not lose too many

I can''t see Fer or RVW being here due to their presumably high wages and them both retaining some kind of decent reputation overseas.

Snoddy and Ruddy will probably (and deservedly) have interest form the Premier League. If they go, good luck to them. They''ve both maintained a level of commitment and performance above that of their peers.

Of course much will also depend on the manager that comes in and whether he will attempt to retain much of the squad or prefer to bring in players of his own.

Ruddy will go along with the big earners such as Bassong, Fer, RvW, Turner, Snodgrass, Yobo, and Redmond probably given his potential. Hopefully we''ll be left with a core of Bunn, Rudd, Martin, Olsson, Whittaker, R Bennett, Garrido, Howson, Pilkington, Johnson, Tettey, Hoolohan, E Bennett, Becchio, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Hooper.I think Hooper and Becchio could run riot in the Champ with Hoolahan behind them.Add in a couple of solid Champ players, maybe promote a couple from the youth set up and it doesn''t look too bad. Who knows even Holty might want to come back ;)Not sure about Surman and Fox, has anything been announced where they will be next year? If not they''d be ideal should Redmond and Snodgrass leave. Champ is their level.

You just can''t unload big earners somebody must want them on this years performances they''ll be struggling to get moves.

Redmond''s a show pony lots of pace with no end product, doubt he''s on anything near Bassong or Fer. As ex Championship player we''ll definitely be stuck with him.

Agree with most of this, although I think Redmond and Turner could stay.

Exactly. However being realistic is in order.

I just wince at the way that opinion about the future of certain players is presented as fact in this thread when nobody can really know a thing and everybody relies on guesswork.
