BroadstairsR 2,138 Posted May 12, 2014 If we do go the DoF route I have an inkling that it might well be our Woy. Him and Delia are bosom friends and he will likely resign the England job whatever happens in Rio. At least an ex-England manager will have the respect of our own manager-to-be and Woy is somewhat of a safe option, being bit of an footballing oracle these days and one who is never likely to stand on anybody''s toes. Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 3,783 Posted May 12, 2014 I believe the biggest reason why the Director of Football doesn''t work in this country is because of the stigma attached to it.As soon as one gets appointed, the media and fans start thinking, "Ooh, the manager won''t like that, someone interfering with his job" and as soon as the club goes on a bad run, the media blames the relationship between the manager and the DoF.The way round this is to employ them as a duo, basically, in a similar way to how a manager and his assistant work. And because the term ''Director of Football'' has this negativity surrounding it, just give him a different title. ''Head of Footballing Operations'', ''Football Executive'', or something like that.
