Outlandish suggestion number 2: Lukaku - A bit off the wall but why not give going all out for Lukaku a go

Recommended Posts

Following on from my Darren Bent suggestion, I know it''s again bit of a daft suggestion, as he''ll probably attract better clubs than us, but how about instead of buying a range of players for £30m if we stay up, why don''t we pay £25m for Lukaku and give him a 3 year £100k a week contract with an option of a 4th year?

Min fee release of £35m, relegation release of £15m.

It''s pretty clear that our side is that one type of player away from being decent, our lack of goals and focal point this season have been very much to our detriment. How about we gamble all our budget on him?

*prepares for backlash*

There is a simple reason we could not buy such marque signings, they would not come to play for City.

Surprised Bony went to Swansea or Remy to QPR but be prepared for these players to look for Champs League teams after this successful season. Expected Benteke to move perhaps to Spurs but not know obviously.

Everton will be the ''worst'' club he''ll go to.
Would be an excellent signings, but its not at all realistic. Much more likely to stay at Chelsea than join us. And that doesn''t seem very likely either for some reason, Jose seems to have lost his marbles when it comes to Lukaku.

And to be fair to the lad, at 20 will have his eyes on a Champions League club.

After all, he is helping to propel Everton into that sort of position.

He may even get a shot with Chelsea. Ba is likely to go, as is Torres if rumours are to be believed.

Wouldn''t fit in with his development curve at all. Was awesome at West Brom last season, awesome at Everton this season... he''ll be playing European football next year, whether it''s for Chelsea or for someone else.

After this seasons debacle I cant see Mourinho letting him go - Lukaku is looking increasingly like the drogba replacement Chelsea have been seeking - so yes would love it but cant see it happening.

As an aside this is an excellent example of the loan system working well for all concerned.

So - if its not Lukaku who could we get on a season long loan next year?
