Duncan Edwards 2,230 Posted April 16, 2014 They''ve priced everyone out. Now they''re not owed anything perhaps they''ll let the club go for a reasonable price rather than worrying about their paltry investment.

Turned the club from a basket case into one of the most solvent and well run clubs in the process. Not bad for a cook.

mrs miggins 0 Posted April 16, 2014 how can you get lucky by appointing a manager. I mean that literally doesn''t make sense....unless of course Delia had a fling with lambert.....his relationship with his partner did break up during his spell at norwich. The pieces are all coming together

Different eras, but I''d say the 18 years before Delia took over was more successful by far: Two FA Cup semi-finals, one League Cup, 3rd round of the UEFA Cup (including the Bayern victory), 5th, 4th, 3rd place finishes, two promotions and way more than 4 seasons in the top flight. Very different eras. South and Chase were lucky in that they were in charge at a time when social and economic changes meant some previously successful clubs declined and there was a vacuum into which smallish and medium-sized clubs such as ourselves could - and did - move. Not only did Smith and Jones take over a club that had got into a right mess. But not long after that the way in which football got financed changed again, to the detriment of clubs that did not have rich owners. There are clubs out there as big or bigger than ourselves, such as Wolves, the Sheffield clubs, Derby, Leeds, Coventry, Forest etc, that would kill for the kind of qualified on-field success and financial stability that Smith and Jones have produced in the last 17 years. Google Bot 3,262 Posted April 17, 2014 Board has got to be one of the most respected in the country, took a hit with Hughton dismissal, but most of us are behind that i believe?!I can guarantee there''s a multitude of clubs who not only look up to what they''ve achieved but have also got in contact for advice, just as we sought from Charlton many years ago. Indy 3,297 Posted April 17, 2014 Wouldn''t it be nice if football could self fund itself without the need for deep pocket owners funding the ego''s of players who can''t live on 200K a week! Fair play my backside and this a large part of our problem this season along with Sunderland and Fulham, we all have players who are just here to ride the team and pick up the wage. (Not all players!) I can''t say our board have been blameless in their 18 years but they are by far one of the best boards going with a great CEO, they are loyal and will allow the manager time to get things right, yep in some peoples eyes the wrong choice but we will never know! It''s not about money it''s about learning and improving through that learning, we are a small club in a big league and although this club is more than capable of being a top flight club, we will have these dark times with relegation, it''s at this time we see just how good our board are and how they structure the club from manager to his budget for the championship campaign. Good times and bad they cannot really be set upon, they did the best behind the manager and funded the biggest kitty in our history, it just didn''t work out and we have fu games to enjoy our time in this league. Syteanric 1 Posted April 17, 2014 the shareholder constitution says that no one can hold a seat on the board over the age of 75.... I am not sure how old Delia and MWJ are, but I would suspect things will happen slowly, seeking outy potential interested parties (and there will be some) and agreeing a price. either way, I have a feeling that there might some negotiation on value... Carrow Road is prime land for developers....
Salopian 1 Posted April 17, 2014 We spent good money last summer, and the only players to come up anywhere near expectation are Fer and Olsson, and possibly Redmond who has yet to deliver. We didn''t get our money''s worth, I feel. Perhaps the fault was with the scouts, whop didn''t allow for the differences between where the players were playing and the Premiership. Perhaps the fault was with our management team, who didn''t work out how to play the newcomers. Is there any fault with the Board? Were they more concerned to reduce the external debt, and so didn''t provide sufficient funds? This is difficult to answer unless someone breaks a confidence. Did they put pressure on the management team? Again, it is difficult to see from outside.Three heads have rolled. Do we need more to go? I think not, although one may fall on his sword. From where I am I can''t see how they could have done more, except to leaving it too late to sack Hughton and give more time to his successor. As for the Board Delia and Michael are effectively the owners and major shareholders. It is difficult to sack them, but in any case there is no suggestion of failure on their part. It comes down to the chairman and Chief Exec. As I have suggested, it is not clear what failure there has been by them.
