What next for Bassong?

Recommended Posts

He was class last season, and has had the odd good game this season but the captaincy has killed him. Anyone reckon he''ll stay on if we go down, or will he whimper off back to France or something?

Whilst he''s a bit clumsy, he doesn''t seem the type of guy to kick up a fuss or play deliberately rubbish because he wants out. I think he''d be a class above in the Championship.

He nevers seems to stay at a club for long and with CH gone we will see him leave in the summer;   I can see him signing for another lower league prem club (either existing or just promoted) and have a good 18 months.

Has anyone else heard anything or see the way he left after the game Sunday?  A friend of mine told me he wasn''t too happy, wheel spinning as he drove out of the car park.

my friend saw it. he said Bassong got in his car and got stuck in first gear, he drove aimlessly around before realising he had a second gear and could move up into it.. by then it was too late and the car park was closed due to Seb missing the boat..

Sold to Burnley, fantastic 1st season and then gets relegated the second year with them, if history is anything to go by.

Sad but never good enough this year.

Ideally he comes back stronger next season and playing for us.

He''s too concerned about his media presence to play Championship, no one will want him in the prem, so definitely will hot foot it abroad. Maybe him and CH will set up a little love paradise together over there to carry out there bizarre father/son relationship in more detail.

So Bassong isnt good enough for us now then?  Unbelievable, sure his form has been all over the place this season, and in truth none of us know the reasons behind it, but he was first class the season before and being acclaimed as one of the best ever CB''s that have played for the club. Now, he is close to CH and that could well have had an affect on him or, perceived to have had and hence he is not being considered righ now. But, he is a top player and one, if his head is right, we should keep hold of if we stay up.

He''d he rubbish at soft porn. They are expected to get at least1 shot off in 90mins, or try to come from behind.... Something the team have struggled with this season..

Not 1 person on this thread has said he isn''t good enough. He is probably 1 of our top earners and we can''t afford to keeping paying him top dollar for what he''s shown this season. When we needed our players to stand up and be counted he went missing, not the only one to do so, but as captain he needed to lead by example, and quite frankly he has come miles short of what I, and many other supporters I know, expect from our captain.

I disagree he went missing. Say what you like about his performances and some have been poor. But when the ball becomes a hot potato it usually ends up with him. If he went missing you wouldn''t notice him...

NN, exactly right, sure his form has been very inconsistent but he certainly has never gone missing........I actually think many City supporters dont deserve decent players at our club......
"He wanted to play it in the hole, instead unfortunately he missed and its hit the poor girl in the face''
He''s got a good hard tackle on him but he''s not the best at working at the rear.

Earlier in the season, some of us thought that he was a little slow, and that this was the result of his summer operation. By now it has become clear that he has not got back to his form of 2012-2013, and the operation is well behind him.

There may be some truth in the claim that the "weight" of captaincy has held him back, and now that he is getting "itchy feet" to be off. If we are relegated, then he probably will be off, for pride and financial reasons. What if we stay up? Will he want to continue, having effectively been demoted from captaincy? Would e want him if his playing standard has not been matained at the level of his first season with us?

There are too many unknowns here. I think that he would be better able to contain strikers in the Championship, if he stays, and we certainly can''t sign replacements immediately for every player who is likely to be targeted by other clubs in a fire sale. If we remain in the Premiership, he might just start performing at his best again.

Transfer out of the club... his head isn''t switched on this season for some unknown reason... maybe being Captain has overly pressurised him - who knows, but he has made a lot of errors and looks way to casual on the ball.
