The Friendly Cup

Recommended Posts

Those that went will never forget it.   It was a breath of fresh air in troubled times and it was a brilliant shop window for the nature of Norfolk and its people - as well as for the the nature of the Sunderland fans.   It will be celebrated afterwards I hope,  but  during the match it will be just the same as any other contest.

There is a cynicism that is around the modern game and its finances - but at the heart of the game are the supporters - and at Norwich we have the best supporters in the land (with one or two exceptions).   We all know that - but 1985 proved it to the world at large - and it does no harm to remind people of it every time we play the Wearsiders.

If we win it I bet you all a crisp white fiver that''ll get a walking around the pitch afore the next home game.

Nothing like winning a trophy or a medal or suthin to get the good feeling florn around the ground.
