Making Plans 936 Posted March 24, 2014 GOALKEEPER - John Ruddy (Norwich) A first clean sheet in four Premier League games and the Canaries are singing again. John Ruddy''s save from Sunderland''s Wes Brown during Saturday''s 2-0 win removed any chance of the Wearsiders getting anything from the game and pushes them nearer the trap door. The manner in which Norwich performed for manager Chris Hughton and Alex Tettey''s sensational goal gave me the distinct impression that if they are in danger of going down they won''t go quietly. Did you know? Ruddy''s total of 96 Premier League saves is only bettered by Cardiff''s David Marshall this season.

It's Character Forming 1,160 Posted March 24, 2014 A bit strange for him to be in team of the week for making one save. But then thinking about it... we had Chelsea, Man C, Stoke all scoring plenty so not much scope for a goalkeeper to be in team of the week in those games - on the one side picking the ball out of the net, on the other with hardly anything to do. And there''s no need to mention Liverpool beating Cardiff by one set to love. Or the West Ham goalie conceding from nearly halfway (haven''t seen it yet but it can''t be good for the keeper.. So yes, I can see how one save and a clean sheet are good enough this week !
Bethnal Yellow and Green 1,557 Posted March 24, 2014 Also worth noting that Garth Crooks, who picks the ''Team of the Week'' is very good friends with Hughton and stick up for and give praise to him whenever he can. But it wasn''t a great week for goalkeepers or defenders generally.
Tetteys Jig 830 Posted March 24, 2014 Whatever helps get him to the world cup.Yobo, Snodgrass, Hoolahan, Tettey and Howson were all contenders though.
splutcho 173 Posted March 24, 2014 I can''t really pay much attention to these as Garth Crooks is an imbecile. Last week he was lambasting goal line technology for giving the correct decision. I don''t know why he''s in a job.
The Great Drinkell 50 Posted March 24, 2014 He also prevented Borini from getting a yellow card by just "getting on with it after a late challenge" Would rather MOTD show this and comment rather than strikers kicking keepers then falling over for a penalty. ZLF 271 Posted March 24, 2014 He is spot on about the timing of his save; sunderland were on top at that stage and going 2-1 would have made the game extremely tense. After the save sunderlands resolve waned and we saw the game comfortably out.

It was a one sided 1-0 win and Neville said that he''d done excellently to keep up his concentration and make the excellent save so late in the game after having nothing to do.
