50 years a Supporter 0 Posted March 30, 2014 After Bassong''s passionate rallying call (why was he pushed out to face the press - was he the most upbeat player they could find?) it has to be plain to even CH''s most ardent supporter that something drastic has to happen to breathe energy and fight into a squad I suspect that are doing no more than going through the motions, privately resigned to the fact that they as a team (including the manager and the backroom staff) just aren''t good enough. The only hope they can cling to is that there just maybe three other groups in a similar predicament. Fulham may be one to qualify, but there is still fight in Cardiff, Sunderland and WBA and, unless Norwich can lift themselves with a Braveheart / Rourkes Drift determination to not go gently into that dark night, I really do feel we will be watching Championship football next year.Where will that energy and motivation come from? The Captain, the Manager, Paul Trollope''s ipad, McNally''s silence, twenty thousand clappers? On the Ball City, Never mind the Danger
Ray 111 Posted March 30, 2014 "Was he he most upbeat player they could find?"Could it be the one man they normally call upon in these situations, the most articulate, the one who should have been capatian, the man who has NCFC in his heart, has finally had enough of attempting to support the manager and when asked to do the interview said, "No, not this time."If that was the case, then the manager has lost the lot of them. Not saying this is what happened though!!! lake district canary 4,531 Posted March 30, 2014 Its a joint effort, isn''t it? The manager and players have to do their part. The crowd at Cara can help by doing their part. The team don''t really let us down at home, so we have to be optimistic that they can do the business and get points in the remaining games. We shouldn''t be phased by any club that comes to CR - Liverpool and Arsenal may well be more tense than usual if issues at the top aren''t settled by the time they come to us - so we can be positive on that front. Away is a tough nut to crack. No team in the lower half of the table has a great record, but ours is very poor. so a point at least at Fulham would be seen as a real confidence booster. The energy comes from the complete package - the club, its players and fans. When we are as one we are a force to be reckoned with (the Spurs game was a great example). We need that every home game till the end of the season.
William Darby 0 Posted March 31, 2014 It''s just an exercise in informing the fans, the players know full well the gravity of our situation. But to be frank if the players are not fussed they can pee off now. Though I doubt we have any lead swingers anyway.
Donkey dangler 0 Posted March 31, 2014 How about some boxing before the start and at half time, that should get the teams in the mood for a scrap.
dean 0 Posted March 31, 2014 Lakey still harping on about the Spurs game. In Chris Hughton youre backing a three legged horse Lakey and the Grand National is coming up.
dean 0 Posted March 31, 2014 And yet again Lakey you speak as if it is the crowd holding back your mate Chris. You don''t make it to many games so I understand your confusion, but there''s no problem with our fans backing the team on a match day. Complaints on here about useless Chris don''t equate to lack of support for the TEAM you naive naive man.
Surfer 1,547 Posted March 31, 2014 Nope, he didn''t. He just said it''s a package deal.
dean 0 Posted March 31, 2014 To keep trying to gee up the crowd like a cheerleader seems to suggest that the crowd isn''t already doing its job. We are. And credit to us, because there''s not a lot to cheer about with Hughton at the helm. It is unconditional support for the club.
Empty Mirror 0 Posted March 31, 2014 In many ways Bassong''s interview was the most chilling thing I''ve heard in terms of our prospects of survival. This was Hughton''s chosen "team captain" and he sounded crushed. No hope, no fight, and he''s bought fully into the Hughton mantra that we can''t match the opposition''s "quality" (despite the opposition being a team that started the day below us). He either couldn''t be bothered to, or wasn''t capable of, issuing even the stock captain''s rallying cry about moving on to the next game. Hughton inner or Hughton outer, no one who heard that interview could have been left in any doubt that there''s something rotten at the core of our great club at the moment.
