Making Plans 936 Posted February 9, 2014 Suddenly the 10 teams in the scrap to avoid relagation, including us, are improving their results and picking up points that a few weeks ago looked extremely unlikely. It''s going to be one hell of a fight but it is still in our own hands. If we can play to the level we saw on Saturday, and for most of the game against Cardiff, then we should survive but we cannot afford anymore lack lustre performances, dips in form or poor periods of concentration in key games.By rights we should have beaten Cardiff out of sight but it just wasn''t to be.However, Saturday proved that we can takes points from those last 4 games but of course it would be better if we didn''t need to.So therefore, the other 9 games are key - February - minimum requirement - take a point from West Ham and Spurs = 2 points (anything else is a bonus)March - minimum requirement - 2 home wins and 2 draws from the 3 away games = 8 points (anything else is a bonus)April - minimum requirement - a home win against WBA and at least a point at Fulham (our luck must change soon) = 4 points (anything else is a bonus)May - no minimum requirement - let''s assume we''ll get 0 points (anything else is a bonus)So 25 + 2 + 8 + 4 = 39 pointsYes there might be a couple of dissapointments in that lot & we might not get all those points but that still leaves the 4 "end of season" games against Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea & Arsenal where, for a whole number of reasons (FA Cup, Champions League, On The Beach, World Cup etc), the dissapointment might well be on the other foot.My forecast is that 36 points would be touch & go but 37 points would probably see us safe.
