Cocoa (note the a on the end)  a tasty drink and used as a nasty racial slur.
Coco commonly used as a name Coco Austin, Coco Chanel, Coco the Clown.
Right that''s cleared that up.  Can we just nip this in the bud before rumours are spread our manager has been racially abused when he wasn''t.

having typed coco into the pinkun search bar, the way people seem to be using it is a bit edgy. I think people can be oversensitive these day, but i think you have to admit that it''s not the best idea to call your black manager coco. I mean can you see why thats such a stupid thing to do, what ever the intention?

And onto intentions, is it just someones intention to beat hughton with another stick or get even more attention?

You''re probably right, if a number of posters have taken it the wrong way.
It''s just that the last thing any of us want is stories popping up about how the manager has been abused again in this manner.  When I genuinely believe it wasn''t meant that way.
So yeah I guess it wasn''t  a wise choice of word.

A man goes to visit his 85-year-old grandpa in hospital."How are you grandpa?" he asks.

"Feeling fine," says the old man.

"What''s the food like?"

"Terrific, wonderful menus."

"And the nursing?"

"Just couldn''t be better. These young nurses really take care of you."

"What about sleeping? Do you sleep OK?"

"No problem, nine hours solid every night. At 10 o''clock they bring me a cup of hot cocoa and a Viagra tablet ... and that''s it. I go out like a light."

The grandson is puzzled and a little alarmed by this, so rushes off to question the Sister in charge. "What are you people doing,"he says, "I''m told you''re giving an 85-year-old Viagra on a daily basis. Surely that can''t be true?"

"Oh, yes," replies the Sister. "Every night at 10 o''clock we give him a cup of hot cocoa and a Viagra tablet. It works wonderfully well. The cocoa makes him sleep, and the Viagra stops him from rolling out of bed.

Only the poster can know if any racial slur was intended. I personally think not.A more basic point is that it was rude and counter-productive to call CH a clown. I feel Outers have lots of arguments they can make (e.g. that Hughton is a capable lower-level manager but just lacks the vision, imagination and flexibility of thinking to operate in the Prem) and they don''t need to make crass statements that simply aren''t true (he''s a clown). I understand why someone might say it in the heat of the moment during or just after a game, but this kind of hyperbolic language weakens their case. Those of us who want Hughton out (and I''m one of them) need to make our case carefully and with respect if we want to win over the fence sitters and even the Inners.

Well done on the new thread. I''m quite aware of the difference between coco and cocoa, glad that there was someone as bright as you around to clear that up for those who aren''t.

Very good post.

The belligerence, nastiness and general negativity shown by a proportion of the Hughton out camp doesn''t help at all. I don''t want him as manager but I find myself sticking up for him just because of the gitishness shown by by some.
