Statistics show sackings rarely save teams from 'fate worse than death'

Just thought I''d throw this in the pot...

Nothing''s simple and stats will show anything if you want to prove a point.
Put it this way,  if the bottom 6 clubs changed their manager.
3 teams could prove changing worked, and 3 could say it didn''t.  All it really is, is a gamble in freshening things up.

This article and ''research'' seems to be sponsored by the League Managers Association . So this  group is pushing the line that Club Managers should be offered more stable employment. Who''d have thought it ? They would, wouldn''t they ?As PR above says you can jerrymander ''statistics'' to say anything you want.As for the other point about ''outers'' not wanting to read this....well this Outer has always known that changing the manager is a gamble. But totally refutes the idea that it never makes any difference.
An interesting article but not one the outers will want to read.
as you say, because it adds little to the debate as the presumption underpinning it is that all other variables are equalthey are notat the clubs mentioned there are other factors such as off field problems that have a greater effect - whereas atNorwich that is not the casethe realists recognise that Hughton''s inevitable removal should be made as soon as possible, rather than dragging things out and so jeopardising the clubs chances of earning a decent sum in prize moneyand those positive supporters also recognise that the squad is good enough and this little ole norwich'' mentailty is holding us back as much as Hughton''s failing tactics areit can only be a matter of time before we can begin to assert ourselves again and stop doffing our cap to other teams

There are an average of 10 or 11 premier league sackings per season.

Three teams are relegated each season.

That means statistically out of the teams who change their manager about 70% will not be relegated.

How is that for a statistic?

oh dearperhaps this thread is not for youthe ''pantwetting'' you bleat about is usually ascribed to those who panic too much about supposed relegation threatsnothing in my post mentions that fear or panicmy point is that if we continue with Hughton for many more games we risk losing a fair bit of the prize money that our squad are capable of winningquite a bit of differencethat even you might be capable of grasping (with a bit of help) if you were to switch off your de factor setting - which is usually set about three inches up Hughton''s lower colon

"The League Managers'' Association says that while a new appointment at a

Premier League club brings in an average 2.5 points for the following

match, a honeymoon period fades after 12 games and a team''s form usually

deteriorates further."
And how many games have we got to play ?
