Monty13 2,229 Posted January 23, 2014 We played the majority of our games under Lambert in the prem as a 451/4411 with Wes behind Holt or Morrison and we scored a lot of goals, it wasn''t negative. I didn''t hear that much complaining during the unbeaten run last season playing the exact same formation and Wes.People always say Wes doesn''t score a lot of goals, doesn''t get into the box etc. but look at where the guy operates in a game. He likes to drop deeper to collect the ball and roam outside the box and on either wing, not get in scoring positions, his game is about pulling defenders out of position so he can thread balls to other players..The problem imo last year was unlike our first year when Pilks and Surman were getting forward and scoring, we weren''t supporting the loan striker from midfield and we were focusing our attacks down the (particularly Snoddys) wing.I personally also agree that we don''t have the midfield personnel to support a 2 up front formation except against the poorer sides.
