Hopefully they get relegated to the championship for the next 81 years while we remain up. In 2094 we will then have a more established record. Give or take some years for bad maths. And if we can exceed their 4 European cups 7 top flight league titles, 7 FA cups and 5 league cups (we have 1 I know) and extend carrow road by 25,000 enroute its a bonus. This continued obsession with comparing Norwich to Villa is laughable. Surfer 1,547 Posted January 25, 2014 "Aston Villa have played top flight football for 102 consecutive seasons. We have managed it for 22 years in the history of the club" True, mixed in with the odd fixture between us in the old 2nd Division, and for at least one year in the early 1970''s they were perhaps the original "sleeping giant" in the 3rd Division.... so no argument that they are a "big club" and at this time horribly underperforming.
Surfer 1,547 Posted January 25, 2014 Interesting question is: for such a massive club, why are Villa underperforming so badly? Is it the fault of the manager, a lack of talented players, or perhaps it''s lack of support from the fans? It must be something serious, to only be 1 point above "little old Norwich"
kirku 1,331 Posted January 25, 2014 7 Titles? 6 were between 1893-1910.4 European cups? 1 Super Cup and 2 Intertotos7 FA Cups? 6 between 1887-1920. Most recent in 1957.Information without perspective is as useless as trying to paint Villa as some kind of modern-day behemoth.I''m surprised you didn''t also bring up their monumental English Baseball Championship victory. In 1890.
Jacko 0 Posted January 25, 2014 You are never an established Premiership club, You are only as good as your current season. On the Nelson Numpty scale you score right up there. Only sides finishing consistently in the top half of the Premiership can probably be regarded as established. Clubs like ours in the bottom half of the table are always at threat of a relegation battle. We are definitely not close to being established yet.

Villa spent a lot of time in the old Second div relatively recently, and certainly played in Div 3 in the Seventies. I seem to remember at one time there was a very real chance of them going down to Div 4.If my memory serves me correctly, it''s only Arsenal who''ve only ever been in the top flight, and Everton have been in it since the War.
