im spartacus canary 0 Posted February 2, 2014 organised, motivated and with a game plan , we missed a huge opportunity with tony pulis... i really don''t know why people sneer at his brand of football its certainly no worse than ours to watch and pulis is good at it he gets results... very rarely do his teams fold like we do often

Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,023 Posted February 2, 2014 Do not disagree re Pulis, but a look at the new Fulham manager shows you need to get it right when changing your manager, doing so does not mean things will automatically improve.......

ron obvious 1,502 Posted February 2, 2014 As I recall it we were 2-1 down & going for it, looking good until we got hit on the break (Tettey mistake?).One of our better games!
im spartacus canary 0 Posted February 2, 2014 well not many of the top 6 have to grind a result out against us do they ?
chicken 0 Posted February 2, 2014 Pulis arranges his teams to be hard to beat and to try and nick a win via a set play or by launching balls up to a big centre forward to do something with once or twice a game. It''s effectively the same game that big Sam employs at whatever team he is in charge of.There is probably a good argument to suggest that their brand of football may keep you up every season - but it''s certainly not progressive.Someone on here earlier said that Stoke had a low wage bill, and that is mainly because they never really invested in class or quality. You would never say that their side is full of technically great players. We are not doing very well at the moment but the way our team is set up is not anywhere near as defensive.Right now, I''d say our form/confidence is the issue and as a result the team are struggling to really click. Our passing is poor, this leads to the team sitting deeper to compensate for the rapid turn over of possession. In turn this leaves the strikers isolated. Bill 1,788 Posted February 2, 2014 " Our passing is poor, this leads to the team sitting deeper to compensate for the rapid turn over of possession. In turn this leaves the strikers isolated."that''s muddling cause an effectit is because we are sitting back and not giving options that passes are going astray - this has been a feature of Hughton''s strategy from his earliest days hereyou only have to look at the first goal we conceded yesterday where all the players around Hooper were staticHughton''s idea being that if the players remain ''in their place'' then the player with the ball will find them - as absurd and flawed as the mumbo jumbo about how the team lines up 4321 4231.....Football is a fluid game, players will move around in response to where the ball is and where other players are - not some idiotic netball style rigid arrangementIt is this tactic that is destroying us, forcing the players backwards and standing off their opponents
im spartacus canary 0 Posted February 2, 2014 Tony pulis is good at it ricardo , Hughton obviously isn''t hence our frequent collapses, even yesterday a team as poor as cardiff got at us and we collapsed for long enough to lose the game.. tony pulis can get a joke player like chamaqh looking like a bloody worldbeater hughton takes players of previous good character and sucks the life out of them... whatever way you paint it up pulis has been there and done it at this level and he will again probably at our expense,,,,
splutcho 173 Posted February 2, 2014 As Spartacus has clearly rustled himself up time machine and seen the future, any chance of next weeks lottery numbers?

Troll-op 0 Posted February 2, 2014 Why would Pulis come here?? He''s with a club that obviously has "hambition" and also invests in their squad, it would be a down hill move for him wouldn''t it????
nutty nigel 7,533 Posted February 2, 2014 It looks like they''re all going to stay up whilst we''re relegated in all three places....

pete 319 Posted February 2, 2014 If Palace stay up so will City we always go down together.
Darth Catbeard The Old 0 Posted February 2, 2014 Palace''s game plan was similar but slightly different and better to our usual tactics against the bigger teams. The differences being they pressed more aggressively, they were better organised in terms of keeping their shape and discipline and when they did get the ball they attacked quickly. Man for man we are miles better than them but with us using the exact opposite of those 3 tactics up there we would have conceded much earlier and capitulated again barring a minor miracle. I''ve got no problem with being defensive away from home against superior sides but we just can''t do it properly because the manager hasn''t got a clue how to set us up this way. Appalling for a supposed defensive manager.

MyGodWeArePoorToWatch 0 Posted February 3, 2014 Tony Pullis is great for staying in the prem, but he would soon enough grate our fans with his style of play. Unlike some, i dont want to stay up at the cost of style. And under Hughton we have a terrible style, and no results to go with it.
