Solving our strike rate problem...

Recommended Posts

Which of these could prove the solution and why? All are relatively tidy as players, around 23 to 26 in most cases and have decent if not prolific form.

The stumbling for most being the history of barren patches or the patience required to watch them muddle through the adjustment to a higher league...

Thoughts?
The even bigger stumbling block is that we can''t sign anyone until the season ends
Looking at that list we have a bonus not a stumbling block.

Our strike rate problem will never be solved while Hughton is in charge - Far too negative a manager at Premiership level for this to be changed.

Is the reason for poor striking within the strikers themselves, - difficult to believe as the main reason because they came with good achievement in top leagues or Europe? Or is the reason the formations they are required to play in, or the tactics employed, or even the quality of service they receive?

If it is one of the latter causes, the buying another striker will not do much to change the situation.

We needed someone in the window to give us more going forward. Either some kind of attacking/creative midfielder or another striker.

Obviously Hughton''s approach and tactics don''t really do strikers any favours but really good strikers are always carry a threat even if the service isn''t great.

Hooper is the only one who looks like he can score a goal and even he''s not scored for weeks. We all know Elmander isn''t going to score and there''s little sign that RVW is going to do it - though you never know, if he can get a tap in or something that might make all the difference.

You are getting ahead of yourself, NEC.There is one far more urgent change of personnel needed (whether we stay up or not) before we have the sort of ''concerted effort'' you refer to......

Basil, you can hardly say that the performance against Cardiff was negative. It was all out attack. On a different day we''d have won by miles, thanks largely to inspired goal-keeping from our ex-keeper, and Johnson & Hooper were both extremely unlucky with posts and clearances.

If we could cut out the kamikazi defending in almost every single game, it would take some of the pressure off
