BBC report - sympathetic towards Sunderland or what?

Recommended Posts

"10 man Sunderland held by Norwich".Makes it sound as though we were hanging on against 10 men for a large proportion of the game rather than playing against 10 for the last couple of minutes."The first half-hour was summed up by Lee Cattermole''s attempt on goal, which was closer to a failed rugby conversion"The guy was obviously watching a different first half hour to me because I thought it was a good 30 minutes/first half of entertaining end to end footballNorwich goalkeeper Ruddy raced out of his goal, following Borini to the

corner flag, only for the Italian forward to pull back to Ki Sung-Yueng

25 yards out. With the goal at his mercy and defenders frantically

retreating, the South Korean chipped over.

From what I recall, Turner was actually standing on the line & watched to ball go safely over the bar "Sunderland had a huge call for a penalty in injury time"No they didn''t, it was never a handball in a million years."Brown jumped into a challenge with substitute Ricky van Wolfswinkel

close to the corner flag, earning himself a red card".

Jumping into a challenge is hardly an accurate description of how Brown clattered into RVW trying to put him into row Z

"Sunderland had a huge call for a penalty in injury time"

The so called journalist has embarrassed themselves there. The Sunderland appeals were the actions of desperation and shouldn''t have made it into a match report.

Selective quoting I think. It actually says:

Sunderland had a huge call for a penalty in injury time, when Adam Johnson''s cross struck Sebastien Bassong''s hip, despite the home team''s claims of handball.

Which I read as saying ''Sunderland made a lot of fuss but they were clearly wrong.''

well they have to write something, "norwich were rubbish and came close to losing against bottom of the table relegation favorites sunderland" probably isnt quite enough
