Waveney Canary 0 Posted December 28, 2013 That''s all it took for the massed ranks of the snake pit and lower Barclay to rise to their feet and sing WE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL TEAMIf filled my heart with pride. Plastics take note

Mr Angry 1,545 Posted December 28, 2013 Sorry, couldn''t hear it on my illegal stream, all I heard all through the game was the Man Utd fans singing "The Twelve Days of Cantona", shame you couldn''t make a little more noise Waveney old chap.
Juggy 0 Posted December 28, 2013 You should go and sing that at Lowestoft then Waveney, that is your local team isn''t it?

Gingerpele 0 Posted December 29, 2013 I love how people ridicule Uniteds support...They are almost certainly one of the top five supported sides in any sport world wide. How on earth is that a point of ridicule. They are a huge club, they are the NY Yankees of football. Everyone knows Manchester United, it''s not surprising a lot of ''fans'' who aren''t that bothered about going to matches ''support'' them. Why shouldn''t they? I love supporting Norwich and wouldn''t give it up for anything, but if I didn''t care about love football, or no one in my family did so I never got to go as a youngster, I would have ''supported'' Real Madrid as I watched them win every week back in the early 00s on TV. Most would see Man.U rather than the Spaniads. Also fairly sure the biggest club in the country have a better policy for selling away seats than allowing a bunch of Yarmouth scallywags taking the tickets.... Fergodsake 0 Posted December 29, 2013 Just so i know how plastic I am, can I have a definition? How many miles from Carrow road do I have to be before I am a plastic? If someone leaves Norwich to go to North London after 30 years of support, do they then become a plastic unless they suddenly choose to "support" spurs instead? Also, as much as I love this club, how many people do you think sit around thinking, I havent got a club to support, you know who gets all the headlines, Norwich City! Ill support them! Perhaps the 7 people in the country who happen to only catch the last 10 mins of MOTD every week. Also so I can have a definition, at what point does my team become sufficiently local for your liking, does the pub team across the road count, or do players have to be paid? If so do non league semi professionals count? Just so I know, do you also extend your localism to other aspects of your life? Do you also hate people who dont change the home branch of their bank when they leave Norfolk? Obviously I need to know the answer to these, otherwise how will I know if I am made of a suitably Norwichesque material? Im sure you understand.
Surfer 1,547 Posted December 29, 2013 I went out of county to study at Reading, and admit to watching the Royals a few times, and once or twice I watched Liverpool with my mate Rick. Now I live in the US, and although as much as possible I support teams that play in yellow and green - the A''s and Packers - rather than "fashionable" teams like the Yankees or Dallas, I must also confess I still haven''t found a bank yet to reflect my Norfolk heritage, although the Wells Fargo stagecoach logo does seem satisfyingly rural…. Kangaroo Court 0 Posted December 29, 2013 I can''t see why people are getting upset by the OP. He makes a very valid point. Most Man U fans are glory hunters with no connection to Manchester. Norwich fans, on the other hand, tend to be those who support their local team. That doesn''t mean you have to live in Norwich your whole life. Norwich is my local team and I''ve been going to Carrow Road since I was a kid but as I don''t live in the UK at the moment I can only get to a few games a season. I''m still supporting my local team as Norwich will always be my hometown.
killiecanary 0 Posted December 29, 2013 Unfortunately Kangaroo, Waveney isn''t making any point about Man U or their fans. He specialises in abusing Norwich City fans who don''t qualify as ''true'' NCFC fans by his rather warped criteria. He has long campaigned against ''plastics'' - and if he had his way the weekly attendance at Carrow Road would be about 60! If the point were about the plasticity of glory hunting fans of the big clubs it would be so much easier to stomach - but it is entirely about his game of one-upmanship on those of us who dare to follow Norwich but had the misfortune to be born elsewhere. He returns to this with the same monotonous regularity with which we are treated to his views on Hughton and Lambert. And I annoy myself by letting him wind me up!!!! The reason why the vast majority of posters think Waveney is such a prick is because of his bigoted views. Taking your point above, Waveney would consider you a plastic and not worthy of supporting Norwich simply because you don''t support your local team. Like most bigots with extreme opinions he fails to expand on his idiotic statements and clarify exactly what he considers local to mean and to what degree his stupidness extends. By that I mean if he lives in Waveney then Norwich is not his local team and by claiming to support them he is guilty of being a plastic by his own definition. As a poster states above I bet his bigot views don''t extend to other areas of his sad life. I would bet he doesn''t just drink in his closest pub or shop in his local corner shop. Zak Van Burger 0 Posted December 29, 2013 How long has it taken the massed ranks of the Snakepit and Barclay to join you in your Hootun Out!! protest songs Waveney, they have haven''t they and you do sing them don''t you?

Lincs CR 0 Posted December 29, 2013 I feel slightly insulted that the OP classes the Lower Barclay in his little hierarchy of fans. It also took about 16 minutes and 25 seconds for the so called "real" fans in the Snakepit to sing "we''ll sing on our own" followed by the Lower Barclay replying with "we''ll sing for our team".I wouldn''t be surprised if the OP is one of these idiots in the Snakepit who thinks he is a better fan than everybody else. Dubai Mark 0 Posted December 29, 2013 I dont want to get into any argument over this, but I know here the OP is coming from.......some years ago when I was a season ticket holder there were a fews Man U supporters behind us mouthing off big time......and they were from Great Yarmouth, one of them had installed some double glazing at my house a few days before......they got ejected. Now that''s typical, but I have no problem with it generally as of course Man U are huge globally, they are now a huge business and a brand and similar to Real Madrid and Barcelona globally.....others are not so far behind either. Just be proud of supporting your local team and dont worry about others I say.......and that''s coming from a plastic!
