To try to prevent something that has already happened; to act too late.Example: When the CEO heard that the team had lost again, he tried to show the manager the door, but there were no more games left to play. He was shutting the stable door after the horse had bolted. Norfolk Colloquial version.To show the manager the door after the team has folded.
