Greatest ever chairman?

Recommended Posts

Really sorry if this annoys anybody but the board is quiet and I

thought it might be interesting to argue the merits of the best ever chairman we''ve had. Some have a few obvious

contenders. Others there are multiple candidates. Who would you select

for this honour and why? Really sorry if this annoys anyone, thought it

was a better way than asking people to name their greatest ever board as

the individual positions can be discussed.

For me its probably got to be Sir Arthur South although Bowkett runs him close.

Lapp, the content of this this forum has overwhelmed me today and, consequently, I simply can''t make a decision on this without knowing the respective positions of those that have been involved. Now, if you had asked who the best majority owner had been, I would have thrown my weight behind the one that focused on the twelfth man. [;)]

I think Bob Cooper is worth a mention. When he retired he said......."When I left Sainsbury''s almost 4 years

ago I knew I wanted to do a range of things in my life. My love

for football and my friendship with Delia and Michael brought

me to Norwich. They wanted me to help them bring the Club out

of a difficult period of decline and re-establish itself as a

successful Club again. It was a difficult task and it has taken

longer than I expected.

"However, as everyone can now see, Norwich City is on the

up again"
There can be no doubt he set us on the right course even if it was a rocky road.

The chairperson is just a figurehead unless they are also a majority shareholder. The person/s with the majority shares pull the strings.

Robert Chase, but the relative success he lead us to, proved to be his undoing. Can''t see any other Chairman taking is to 3rd in the Premiership.

Sir Arthur South called the Barclay ''scum'' and was always booed when he took to the pitch pre match. Haven''t got found memories of him.

Bob Cooper was a dreadful appointment and just shows that someone with absolutely no idea can become a chairman of a football - at least if Delia''s involved.
