Steve Bruce's Comments About Us...Have A Read Of This!!

Recommended Posts

As quoted from the Daily Mail today:

"We have been in the Premiership three years, you could see the huge gulf between us and Norwich. It is huge. Three years ago we were a top Division One club with gates between 18,000 and 20,000 and a turnover of £13 million. Now we have 30,000 gates with a turnover of £45 million. We slaughtered them with 10 men. It was a real football lesson"

Is this guy on an ego trip or what? I expected more from an ex-canary. Is the gulf so huge? We beat Man Utd, Newcastle, Charlton, Southampton, Bolton, Birmingham and West Brom and numerous impressive draws away from home, many of which we should have won. Did he not understand that we were showing end-of-season nerves? They couldn''t even beat us on their own ground!

I think it was a few positively chosen words from a manager who has been largely unsuccessful and weren''t that far from relegation themselves (considering their massive turnover!). And can anyone remember them being a "Top Division One" side? If I remember rightly, they scraped through the play-offs on penalties by the skin of their teeth! What a turkey!

I hate to say it CB, all of that may be true, but on the day they slaughtered us.

Yes bruce did dissapoint me and not once did he praise norwich for sticking in there when like you said nerves played a big part in how we played , i have slowly been disliking bruce over the years with some of the rubbish he comes out with.

You''re absolutely right, Canary Boy. Yes, they outplayed us for large parts of the game, but surely this is a results business? It''s all very well having a huge turnover, but if that turnover includes £5 million investment in strikers of Clinton O''Morrison''s "class", then I think I''d prefer to stick with our current situation!

Also, a footballing lesson? Surely the footballing lesson to be learnt here is how to get four points out of an established Premiership side without ever playing to your full potential?!? Maybe Steve needs to learn a thing or two...

But fair play to them, they are the richer club, and therefore seen as 100% correct when belittling a team they just lost to.

I agree Canary Boy that it does sound egotistical.  However, what Bruce says is also very true.  If we''re where Birmingham are now in 3 years time, I will be delighted.  Birmingham are a very big club these days and absolutely battered us on Saturday.  That fact though, is meaningless.  We won and that''s all that matters.

Yeah.

A "real football lesson" on how to miss 9 chances.

Let''s see, this season hasn''t the score-lines been:

Birmingham 1 - 1 Canaries
Canaries 1 - 0 Birmingham

That makes it 4-1 to us I think ;-)

Methinks it''s a case of sour grapes! Sure, they had the lion''s share of the possession but we could have had another pen, their keeper made a great stop from Leon, and Deano could have done better after his flick.

And this was on a poor day for us...

Sorry Fozzie and Blacko...I know they out-played us on the day, but the gulf between us and Birmingham ain''t that big...in fact, the only gulf between us is money as far as I can see.

Bruce buys players to keep Birmingham up...always has done. Bet anything you like Steve Bruce will be looking over his shoulder next year for his job because Birmingham aren''t going anywhere!

Like it or not, it is the truth.

Get over it.

Morrison hit the bar twice didnt he? Does this make him rubbish??

You have to say that we were poor, and extremely lucky to get the win, but win we did, and perhaps he feels hurt by it, any manager would.

Bruce will have a special place in my heart for his famous header, but at the end of the day,his "facts" speak for themselves.

Birmingham have struggled a bit this year, but to think how much they spent in the summer time (not always on the best players I hasten to add) shows everybody how far they have come in a short time. If we stay up on Sunday, we may be saying similar things this time next year when we have won away at Wigan, Preston, etc.

I''ve never been a big fan of Bruce''s, we plucked him from obscurity (Gillingham I believe) turned him into a half-decent defender and once Manure showed an interest he was on his way. Since then his ''mercenary instincts'' have served him well as he jumped from one club to another rapidly making his way up the league, leaving chaos in his wake as his previous employers try to pick up the pieces. When he walked out on Palace after six months to join Brum the league stepped in and put him on a months garden leave to try to bring some respectability to proceedings. A promotion (grrrrrrrr) and three trophyless seasons later we find him bragging about how far they''ve come. Let''s face it, 30,000 crowds for a team in England''s second city is hardly something to brag about (the Binners match that!!!!) Truth is Brucy, you''re clutching at straws, you''ve had 3 seasons, you''ve spent a heap of money and your team is mid-table fodder, time is running out when your team lacks discipline, lacks the ability to finish off a nervy Norwich and then blames everybody and his dog for a result that goes against you

Another question for Brucey.... Ashton or Heskey? What a joke this guy is, says there is a gulf in class and doesn''t even beat us in a season. I think he is trying to point out how bad he is at managing.

Just to add fuel to the anti-Steve Bruce fire, I remember sitting on a coach on the way to one of our FA Cup Semi finals (''89 or ''92.. not ''59!) listening to an interview with ''Brucie'' on the radio in which he stated "In Norfolk, you''re more likely to find children playing with tractors in the street than playing football" !!!.... Can you believe that **** from someone who''s career took off playing for us??? Since then, safe to say, he hasn''t been my favourite person in the world hence it was wonderful to see him gutted after we beat them!

well, what do you know, stevie has learnt nothing from being at norwich, and instead takes on all the arrogance everyone seems to get from a spell at old trafford

we don''t care about your turnover stevie, or your porn king employer, frankly your multi million pound strikeforce were crap, and you know it!!!

so we are the poor relations, i don''t think so, you got into the prem by beating us on penalties, such a very wide gulf

i guess you are up for your appraisal with the chairman soon stevie, better be more convincing with him!

birmingham city are an ugly team managed by an ugly fat bloke.
i doubt if their fan-base is much bigger than ours, although they do have a slightly bigger stadium. as for the gulf in class or whatever old broken-nose was quoted as saying, i dont think there is one. mind you, brum should have a superior team when you take into consideration the vast sums of money they''ve spent on players in comparison with city.
the reality is that they were the better team on the day,
but judged over the season as a whole there probably isnt much difference in the ability of the two sides.

Where''s this huge difference in class Brucy?

The table says there are only a few points in it. Not really such a good return on all the money poured in by way of transfers and wages. And Sullivan the chairman aka Mr porn king is looking for out anyway - wants to get back to London and own a BIG team.

We didn''t play well but there again who has the better goalkeeper? Centre forward? Manager? Team spirit? Fans?

Case dismissed.
