Ketts Rebel 0 Posted December 5, 2013 Is the gap between the mega rich ''top clubs'' and the rest now so wide that it is time for a European Super League ?Seems like it could happen..............http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/champions-league/10370046/European-Super-League-will-be-a-reality-in-five-years-claims-Galatasaray-chairman-Unal-Aysal.html

snake-eyes 13 Posted December 5, 2013 Part of me says no, yet sometimes l do think that we should let the Billionaires have their playthings and drop them like a bad habit!
Ketts Rebel 0 Posted December 5, 2013 Maybe if this league did exist we may avoid some 5+ goal defeats.....
William Darby 0 Posted December 5, 2013 It''s a natural progression where the mega rich show ponies ply their trade for the TV screens.
Zak Van Burger 0 Posted December 5, 2013 Can''t come soon enough for me should also signal the end of the "Champions, Runners up and third and even fourth placed thinly veiled Euroleague workaround league" tournament as well.
Old Shuck 183 Posted December 6, 2013 The sooner all the top clubs piss off and play in their own league the better. Domestic football, that which they leave behind, will thrive and prosper. There will still be massive fan and media interest in it, maybe evern more so thatn today-it might even be the antidote to the boredom that is the current Premier League, imagine it this season without Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. More competitive, more interest, much less money in it but far better distribution of same, two top leagues of 20 clubs maybe? The so called "Daddies" can get off to playing Roma and Paris St Germain for ever, fans will lose interest and commitment to travel-and Terry Venables prediction of people being paid to attend matches to provide an "atmosphere" for TV will have come true-but what atmosphere? I hope the respective leagues give these clubs every encoragement to leave and do their own thing. The tail has wagged the dog in football for too long. Let them go-they need us more than we need them.
Tetteys Jig 830 Posted December 6, 2013 As long as it isn''t a fixed set of teams. I''d love the opportunity for us to qualify one day, even just a glimmer. Imagine winning the new english top league, then thinking "but there''s seven or eight better english teams than us still"

Look at the amount of attention the Championship gets, despite most games having very good attendances. If a European Super League starts you can wave good-bye to all the money Norwich currently have as any TV deals will become tiny in comparison. Whether that is a bad thing or not is another debate. Throughout the history of football the top tier have always been dominated by a couple of teams, and although these teams might change slightly over time it''s incredibly rare to ever have more than 2 or 3 with a chance of becoming Champions. In fact, this season''s Premier League is prehaps the most open the top flight has been in England for God knows how long.
