Quote function doesn''t work too well on Android. Quote but delete all the computer script crap. Or don''t quote.

I believe it happens when the user quotes someone who has a non-alphanumeric character in their name. In this case the underscore in iron_stan will cause the error.Whenever someone quotes me the same issue occurs, due to the question mark.
There''s no non-alpha in ricardo.

But bet the quote still has all that crud in it. Let''s see.
If I don''t take out the quote brackets etc this should come out in a mess on Android.

Two separate issues here:a) if a user name has a non-alphanumeric character then the "quote" function will return an error and your post won''t be accepted in the first place (it says something like "non-matching quote blocks" or something like that).b) if users use certain browsers - IE8, Safari, Chrome - then the "quote" function doesn''t render as per the stylesheet''s settings.  Firefox does quote correctly, which is odd (though handy as I use Firefox)So if you use Safari (say), and fix the issue with (a), you will still fall foul of the issue with (b).

Essentially, the message board module used here is antiquated and requires modernisation to deal with the breadth of new browsers available.  As it probably makes no money however, there''s no real business case to justify the upgrade.

When working correctly, the quote function displays text like this
Two separate issues here:
Removing the "quote" blocks means you''re just pasting text, which does look confusing as it''s hard to tell the quoted and new text apart.  However, better that than a page full of [ioqwndq___Bollocksjabbercodecockup]

I''ve only been here a relatively short time, and I was trying to not be rude, but this site doesn''t work. At all. Needs a software overhaul from the top down.

I would recommend outsourcing it. You can get a generic forum quite cheap and it will be able to handle traffic a lot better. You can still administrate it in the same way.

Downloaded an App called Photon to use with the tablet to see if that''s any better. Thanks for the advice

----------------------------------------------------

the simple way to get around this is to copy and paste. I use chrome, and the in-browser app that allows Chrome to use the quote function on this site slows my browser down quite a bit.

The way I quoted above is simple, but it does the job and is much less confusing than trying to read past failed script to find the content.

On Chrome don''t hit quote, hit reply and copy and paste the ''quote'' as above.
