Grant Holt's Shin Pad

Recommended Posts

Kept this very quiet:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2466369/Its-secret-Wigan-striker-Grant-Holt-dinner-Margaret-Thatcher-special-shin-pad-cheesy-mash.htmlI know it is a tribute to his dad, but do wish he''d kept that to himself. I''d ust got over him being a staunch Tory.

Pretty sure the shin pad tribute has been well known for a while. I think he has even removed it and held it aloft when celebrating...

Its always good to remember with Holt that as much as we love him, he''s not exactly renowed for his great intellect so perhaps excuse him some of his more unfavourable beleifs etc...

I 100% agree brownstone, if we elect that socialist scumbag in he would undo the progress Cameron has done to restore the glory days of the eighties. His price fixing scheme is nothing more than a cheap trick to persuade the masses that he is "a peoples man".

A total scumbag and no doubt if he is elected this country will go downhill VERY quickly.
Good to see he was a thatcherite and damn proud. He well and truly is a REAL englishman.
A lot more English than he wanted to be when he tried to find some Scottish ancestors so that he could play for Scotland :)

I''ve always felt like we treated Grant Holt like a God while he felt indifferent towards us. He''s a thicko but he did score ALOT of goals.

He''s never been in love with Norwich.

Nicko, who has ever said he was in love with Norwich?

And why do people expect every signing to suddenly love the club?

Players like Hucks are the example. And from reading his book, he wasn''t in love with a team as a kid. So when he found the club he really belonged at, despite having good times at previous clubs he stuck here. That doesn''t happen too often. Even with a player like Adam Drury, who was here for a decade, reached the top with us and only us. Green a youth product, was here for a long time. Neither of those are as in love with the club as Hucks, and were a lot more loyal than Holty.

The love was from the fans to Holty, i''m sure he loved the fans back, and i''m sure he''s absolutely delighted with his time here, again, he reached the top with us. Before he joined us, he looked like spending his last few years in League One/Two.

He never felt indifferent towards us. Football is his job. He''s from Carlisle, he''s a Carlisle FC fan, you can''t expect someone with a passionate support of another club to drop that because he''s having a good time at his current club.

I know all this.

I just felt there was connection with Holt that was rarely reciprocated. He never seem overly fussed about us. Just thought he would be mored bothered about it!

I don''t see how wanting to talk to Margret Thatcher makes you a Thatcherite. She was a very interesting political character, alot of people from across the political spectrum would''ve liked to discuss things with her.
(and yes, I know Grant Holt votes Tory, but that doesn''t necessarily make him a Thatcherite either)
