A theory on the future...

Recommended Posts

Just a theory I have really (as a science fiction writer)...You always hear phrases such as "... til I die", "You''ll never walk alone" or "Bleed Yellow". We always assume that our football club will outlive us and that nothing will change in Football. Of course, football changes all the time. That in mind...Let''s add, say, 250 years to the current date and we''ve started living on Mars, Jupiter, Neptune. We have established settlements away from Earth. What happens to national football then? What happens to International football and will future generations see a Galactic Cup as bigger than the World Cup? Will the World Cup be renamed to Earth Cup? Will people have to travel to another galaxy for awkward evening 1st round matches hosted on that icy planet on the edge of the galaxy where nobody likes to go (best wrap up warm)... what would the burgers be like? Will Norwich represent Earth in Galactic competitions rather than England in Europe or Norwich in Norfolk? Will we see Jupiter or Mars internationals in our squad. Will our home grown players be known as Earthlings. Will the Earth FA continue to focus on youth development? With matches so far away (different galaxies) what will our attendances be like? Will we be forced to play regional games? How will football work on anti-gravity planets, and will Becchio ever get picked for a game?

Mike. All the Terry Pratchett stuff you talk of I can see happening.

But as for your final point (Becchio)...well you are just straying into the realms of fantasy with that one.

We will have taken the download option. We will have no physical existence. All our experiences will be virtual, & NCFC will be anything any particular person wants it to be..

So for half of the people on the board we''ll be flirting with relegation to the celestial conference whilst on the 328th manager of the season then...
