Juggy 0 Posted September 22, 2013 Then there is the chance that he could be remembered in a decent enough light by Norwich fans. He did an OK just last season, he avoided "second season syndrome", he has drastically improved the quality of our defensive players, and gave us a couple of memorable wins. He came in and stabilised us. If he called it quits now and went to manage Ireland, he will be remembered for an OK but unremarkable season - potentially even with a little fondness. But he just isn''t cut out for this next stage in our development as a club. He has spent a fortune on attacking players and has fixed none of the problems which existed last season. He didn''t spend on the attack last year, he had a good excuse. This year he has, and we still can''t score goals. If he walked now with dignity he won''t go down as a Roeder, Gunn, Grant or Hamilton. He''d even leave his reputation relatively intact, with sympathy from the footballing world, maybe even a little from Norwich fans, and with some job offers in the Championship. But I fear it is only ''damage limitation'' from now on forward, and he should perhaps take a little look at where Nigel Worthington is managing now. York City. Worthy was a good coach too. Not much older than Hughton by the way.Hughton succeeded in phase 1, he met his objectives last season. Well played, he did alright, job done. Phase 2 is above him. Houston Canary 0 Posted September 22, 2013 More likely he''d be inducted into the Glen Roeder wing of the managerial hall of fame. Got the job done first time despite resistance from the fans, crashed and burned once he got his own players around him while losing the dressing room. . Herman 9,585 Posted September 22, 2013 Ah but he has done it in a nicer, less antagonistic, non-rodent like way.
Mister Chops 7 Posted September 22, 2013 Did Roeder ever have his own players around him? My recollection is he managed a conveyor belt of non-entities, has-beens and never-weres.Anyway, yes, certainly wouldn''t bracket Hughton with Roeder for two reasons:a) Hughton was managing at the highest levelb) Hughton wasn''t a thoroughly unpleasant individual
