Gingerpele 0 Posted September 24, 2013 Because he''s not in first team plans?Cup games shouldn''t be used to play players who have a 5% chance of starting a league game in the few months. Becchio is behind RVW, Hooper and probably Elmander for that one striker spot. And don''t think Hughton would deploy him in the new found Elmander role, even though they are fairly similar players.Hooper needs to play and get a goal or two. In fact if RVW wasn''t injured I''d want him playing. Elmander''s double against Bury got him a first team place in the league, he wasn''t as far away as Becchio anyway. Sub appearance at best for good old Luciano. Really he needs to leave, he''s good enough for any Championship team. He clearly isn''t bringing anything Hughton sees as vital or different. Hannibal II 0 Posted September 24, 2013 I''m not really sure how you can say he''s only good enough for the Championship when he''s never been given a fair crack at the Prem. Half of our squad was deemed not good enough for the Prem by others before we came along. Pilks, Russ, Ruddy, Snoddy, ( Even Holt) all prime example of players who have proved themselves in the Prem coming from lower leagues when given a chance. Mister Chops 7 Posted September 24, 2013 We''ve spent a small fortune on two strikers who need to learn to play with their team mates, and vice-versa, and a cup match is the perfect chance to try and get things to click. Why you would pass that opportunity up to try a 4th choice striker is beyond me, particularly when if the manager and coaching staff thought Becchio was good enough then we wouldn''t have purchased RvW and Hooper, and then brought in Elmander.Hooper should start, possibly with or without Elmander who looks incapable of being an effective "No 10".Or maybe Hooper gets the deeper role & Elmander leads the line as he does for Sweden. CDMullins 498 Posted September 24, 2013 Whats the point?Even if he scores an hatrick tonight, would you really play him infront of RWV, or Hooper for that matter on Sunday?

CanaryOne 0 Posted September 24, 2013 Well if he is not wanted here why dont we give the guy a free transfer and let him get on with his career , may as well do the same with Olsson too because Hughton seems to be sending him down the same path .

Guest Posted September 24, 2013 Personally I''m amazed Becchio isn''t even given a chance when we are chasing games in the final ten minutes, when we''re basically throwing endless crosses into the box. Surely someone who is used to scrambling goals into the net in the Championship is a viable option in these circumstances, especially against the lesser teams that basically have Championship standard defences. But yes, Becchio will probably be making the teas tonight, rather than playing.
