BroadstairsR 2,093 Posted September 26, 2013 I know that it,s a bit of a Mickey Mouse cup and that Watford for all their Italian flair are a Championship side but last night''s result was good for our Club in a few telling ways.Firstly we won. Secondly we showed attacking intent throughout.Thirdly, we finally had the benefit of Hooper''s goal-scoring prowess. IMO he will become our number one striker and this is good for RVW. It will take the pressure of him and allow him to ease himself into the demands of Premiership football, We have a very good player there, perhaps one goal shy of being completely accepted but nevertheless thankfully one of ours. Finally, a breakthrough for our splendid array of young talent. From the snippets I saw Murphy looked every bit the part and instantly propelled himself into the reckoning.A good night all-round and much needed in these flagellantistic times.Only Watford but could have been a banana skin.We now have a pay-day at least at Old Trafford as a reward. Hannibal II 0 Posted September 26, 2013 the only significant thing to note from the result was we won. Other than that its quiet alarming that we failed to win convincingly against a team from a division below us with a pretty strong side.
Guest Posted September 26, 2013 Broadstairs you''re far too sensible for this board. Sunday is the real crunch day for Hoots but he didn''t do himself any harm at Watford.
Waveney Canary 0 Posted September 26, 2013 A win against Watford reserves is hardly a significant result. Beat Man Utd at old Trafford and then we may be in significant territory
Salopian 1 Posted September 26, 2013 It could be significant in this sense - that once we had discarded Wes and Johno, and brought on Fer, we seemed to be too much quality for Watford - we just had too much for them. Yes, Watford were tired for the last 35 minutes, but so was Hooper! We came back from 2-0 down with 13 minutes of normal time left, and something on this scale hasn''t happened for several years, especially away from home. Will it improve our league prospects? I hope so, but this depends on Seb and RvW being fit, and above all taking that never-say-die attitude into future games.
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted September 26, 2013 A good result against Watford reserves. Next up is a real game, Stoke away. This will be a far greater pointer to our season than a cup match against lower league opposition.

In fact...they failed to win at all against a team from a division below them with a pretty strong side.Is that quite alarming for them too?Maybe our result/performance will prove significant, maybe it won''t. It''s impossible to tell from one cup game (where all sorts of weird sh!t can happen, as we all know). As others have said, a lot will depend on what happens on Sunday.
